I think somewhere in there when Quentin & Beth's ghosts are haunting the house Roger mentions that Jamison was his Father. I think (I my be wrong) it was when he found the letter adressed to Jamison from Quentin talking about an Oscar person

Great recall, arashi!--

Roger goes into the drawing room and opens his briefcase on the desk. A large book falls from the piano to the floor. Roger turns and looks at it. He picks it up and opens it. He finds a piece of paper inside, a letter. He looks at it, puzzled. When Carolyn comes in, he tells her it's a letter addressed to his father, Jamison, dated 1887. He must have been a boy, muses Roger. "Dear Jamison, you must return to Collinwood, I need your help. You must intercede with Oscar. Only you can save me." They wonder what it means. It's signed "Quentin." ...

Yes, bullied.  They are blatently trying to force fans to join the club simply to be able to buy the pre-Barnabas eps, that's a plain as the nose on one's face.  If they weren't doing this, they'd be available to EVERYONE right away and not a year after the so-called CLUB members can buy them.

I think you mean that buying the DVDs when they're released requires joining MPI's club, which IS a bona fide DVD club that, to me, seems less restrictive than most.  I don't think it's such a hot marketing decision, but bullying implies intimidation, and when I hear upfront that I can purchase directly from them when they're released or wait an unknown period of time (I don't think they've said it would be a year, have they?) to buy them from someone else, I don't see any blatant force, intimidation, bullying, or coercion in that, but that's me.

Don't let them bully you into joining their club.

Bully?  [idontknow]  I'm a club member but not because I was bullied.  I felt no pressure to join, chose where my collection would begin, and am free to quit whenever I wish.

The reason I joined was, in a word, convenience.  I'm sent an email before and after the next release is shipped, it comes to my mailbox (albeit slowly), and my card is charged.

I don't believe this is accurate.

An addendum:

I can't find a single negative public comment made by the author before the Fest report was written.  Unless you find some evidence supporting your suspicion, please drop it.

I have a gut feeling that RJ's presentation wasn't mentioned because she dared to speak her mind RE:
Shadowgram's publisher.

Thank you for making it clear that you are speculating; however, I don't believe this is accurate.  And note that Big Finish was also not mentioned in the report.

It's your call, Midnite, but I respectfully suggest that Shadowgram emails not be posted at this board until it STOPS playing favorites & STOPS pretending that gays do not exist in fandom.

David, this topic is about RJ's presentation and book.

In other words, Shadosgram, like ANY information publication, should start telling the truth.

More or less the same report appears on the Festival website.

In its Fest writeup, the latest ShadowGram email (see link below) lists the new books by David Selby, Lara Parker, Donna McKechnie, Betsy Durkin and KLS that were available at the Fest.  Also available for sale, it says, were Marie Wallace's and Diana Millay's books and Chris Pennock's comics.  It also mentions the popularity of ShadowGram issues, DS Concordances, and other fan collections.  Oh, and that MPI offered some new stuff.  Hmmm.  The two Fest purchases that I'm happiest with are actually the Grayson Hall bio and the Big Finish Audio CDs.  I guess "Remembering Grayson Hall" wasn't taken to heart when that report was written.  But I'm overcome with joy that the new sweatshirts got a special mention.   :-

I sent my email to ShadowGram.

I know for a fact from Craig the source material for this quote was the NY Times article Janet references.

Thank you for clearing that up!

Quote
It was also quoted by Craig on his Dark Shadows Online website.  As we all know he was a thorough researcher and wouldn't have published anything with fact or documentation.

Maybe I'm misreading you, but I want to explain that I've visited Craig's site often and honestly have no doubts about the veracity of the information in it.  I cited his B&C book because as a rule, the board admins hold print sources above information on the internet; in many cases, information on the net is unreliable, and it can be altered suddenly or even disappear.  We have to take liability issues very seriously, and we've chosen to not designate that DSOnline or DS Journal (as examples of sites whose integrity is not in question) are legit sources yet such-and-such a site is not.

To clarify something I said earlier in this topic, while information in print is acceptable, what posters heard someone say to them or to somebody else is considered gossip.  I'm not saying they didn't hear it; I'm saying that it's hearsay.  Also, since the issue of using real names has come up-- if readers know whom you're speaking about, it doesn't matter if you avoid naming the person or perhaps identify them with just a username; if the identity of the person can be inferred, it's legally the same as providing a name, and the comments can still be libelous.

Anyway, thanks again, John.  Shutting up now.   :-X

But you can order from the series here:  ...

I should've mentioned there's a mail order form on the back of each invoice, though listings are by series and not individual installment.

The director (Jason Haigh-Ellery) of the episode represented Big Finish at the recent Festival.

Er, was one of the representatives.
