[It's up to the first poster to come up with a set up, and then each following post will either complete it or fill in the blank(s). And, as always, whoever posts the set up is certainly allowed to post their own completion/fill in as a follow up.]

Fill in the blank: "As Roger was in deep thought about how he was possibly going to tell Liz the terrible news that ________, little did he know that she was about to enter the room and he would have to tell her sooner than he'd expected!!"

a genie, a zombie, and a mummy cousin from England were coming for dinner

Can you even imagine if that really was true?! [yikes]

David Henesy certainly had the acting chops to pull off a dual role. It wouldn't have been too difficult to concoct a sudden appearance of a twin. [8_1_209] [8_1_209] [8_1_209]

([pointing-up] Not at all - it's a staple of soap opera!!)

([pointing-up] OMG! I don't know if the audience could have handled that, much less the Collins family!! [snow_shocked])

Well, for one episode identical cousins Patty and Cathy Lane were joined by yet another identical cousin named Betsy. If DC had seen the episode, I'm sure that he would would have found some way to work it into the show
-
([pointing-up] You'de better believe he would have!! [nodassent]
Funny thing, a few years back I DVRed all the eps of The Patty Duke Show and watched them but I don't recall the Betsy ep. I wonder if MeTV accidentally skipped it? When I get the chance I'm going to have to check things out because I actually saved all the eps I recorded so that I could watch them again sometime...)

The episode is titled The Perfect Hostess and it's available on YouTube.

(I just watched it and, nope, I'd never seen it before. If I had, I would have never forgotten that blonde wig - and I never would have forgotten that Betsy was secretly Erica Kane's sister! (If you have no idea what that second part's about, check out the guest cast. [snow_wink]) I guess MeTV accidentally skipped it during the run I'd DVRed. I'm going to have to count the eps I have and compare the total to how many were produced to make sure I'm not missing any others. The nice thing is that thanks to my DVR my recordings include the ep's titles and the dates they originally aired.)

Got it! As I'm sure that you knew that I would.
I don't think that any DS actors appeared in any of the Patty Duke episodes, though I'm sure that a lot of them were in NYC at the time.
We did manage to parody the theme song, with lyrics describing Chris and Tom Jennings, in The Loco Motion.

([pointing-up] The only connection between DS and TPDS that I'm aware of is that Robert Costello produced each one for some period of their run...)

(Just imagine if as a favor Patty Duke had made a guest appearance on DS while Costello was there!!)
-
That would have been amazing, if she had. And she would have knocked the proverbial socks off approximately half the cast.
-
([pointing-up] Not to mention Patty Duke guesting on DS would have turned Joan Crawford's appearance on The Secret Storm into an even bigger joke than it already was!!)
-
It certainly would have made DS into more of a media circus than it already was. If such a thing were possible.
