OT: Louis Edmonds' Last Co-Star Writes a Book
« on: July 30, 2008, 01:56:05 PM »
Former porn queen Georgina Spelvin (The Devil in Miss Jones), who played Louis Edmonds' daughter in my film Next Year in Jerusalem, has written a book.

The Devil Made Me Do It is Georgina's superb memoir about her strange journey from Broadway chorus girl
to world famous porn queen.
Filled with a lot of humor and a bit of regret, the beautifully written book tells one of the srangest show biz sagas ever.
The book covers her time on Broadway in The Pajama Game, her years in summer stock, the heartbreaking battle with alcoholism she waged while in porn, her family, and the well deserved happy ending she found
around age 50.

I'm proud to have worked with Georgina Spelvin in her post-porn career. She remains a friend~~I had lunch with her last week when I was in LA for the DS Fest.
And Louis found her GREAT to work with.

Please check out her site:
www.GeorginasWorld.com
where you can find a link to order this fine book.

Just thought that I'd let LA people know that Georgina Spelvin will be doing a reading & signing on Wed Aug 20th at Book Soup on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood.

Happy endings are awesome. I'm glad she was able to work through her struggles.

A remarkable story!  Has it been considered to have it turned into a film or even a mini-series?

I can't imagine a network greenlighting this as a mini-series, Gerard. Do they still do miniseries at all?

But I think Georgina's strange saga has enourmous
dramatic potential & would make a great R rated film.
She's told me that she'd love to see a film made, with herself playing her own mother.

But for right now, she's concentrating on book sales.
A San Francisco signing is being worked on, and she's done a number of radio & web interviews.

I never got to meet Louis however I feel a sort of  a kindred spirit with him.  I too, like him, am a southerner (maybe that is why I like NB  too hmmm..) and there are other things that me and Louis had in common.  I think he must have been a dear dear soul.  On topic:  I would love to see this film and I really enjoyed the article.
If you like DS and want to have a fun  on a Facebook page that is open to all forms of DS and doesn't allow childish behavior like some groups; come on over to DIAESD! You do have to ask to be invited and I will approve you.

I think subscription channels like HBO and Showtime still do.  And they are still seen, on occasion, on prime-time networks, but now only rarely (trying to remember the last one).  I'm thinking a mini-series would be great, as there seems to be way too much important stuff and a regular feature film (unless it's a three-plus-hour epic) couldn't fit it all in.

Gerard, you are right!
HBO & Showtime!
Perfect!
I'm going to suggest this to her.

Right now, Georgie Girl is in Florida, helping director Gerard Damiano (Devil in Miss Jones) celebrate his 80th birthday, but she'll be back in LA tomorrow,
I'll see if I can get her to pop in here to say hi.

I'm also going to see about posting some screen grabs of her & Louis.
I have a great shot of them, both in their Orthodox Jewish garb.
He's sitting in a big easy chair, she's leaning over, holding
his hand.
I LOVE that shot!

I've been meaning to post these screen caps made by John_in_NC from "Next Year in Jerusalem."  It was Louis Edmonds' last role, and at age 73!

(My FTP program isn't working, so eventually these will be uploaded here as a replacement, which is my explanation for posting the one OT attachment and I'm sticking to it.  :))
