It's a good thing Barnabas got to his coffin early today. First he had to tend to Rachel, and then he had to talk to Magda. If he hadn't had to do these things, would he have lain in his coffin for half an hour, waiting for his daytime death?
Magda opened his coffin and saw that he wasn't in it. Was she planning to have a little chat with him if he was? I can't believe he would have welcomed it. He's lying there, counting sheep or bats or something, and suddenly the lid opens and there's Magda standing over him dangling her gigantic earring in his face (not to mention her wig) and he can't go anywhere because he's due to die any second now.
Barnabas gave Rachel another present, and asked her to call him by his first name. If she's not careful, she'll lose her reputation.
Where was Beth's mind today? Couldn't she at least have put the doll in a bag? Instead she carried it like a baby, reminding me of the young woman carrying calla lilies in the play in Stage Door. So, was Beth imagining herself as a mother? As the mother of Quentin's child, perhaps?
Spoiler about the end of the episode...
Beth was very careless when she entered the tower room. She had her hands full. Jenny could easily have attacked her and escaped. But I suppose Beth believes she can handle Jenny.
Beth has an air of intelligence which was completely misleading today.
