Actually, it's funny you should bring up the woman in that screen cap because this morning I've been wondering if the actress is possibly the infamous Hannah "Hippe chick" Murray of Twitter/Internet frenzy fame? It sort of looks like her - but it's really hard to be sure.

Aha, I knew this gal had been mentioned here!  I had a when-worlds-collide moment just now!  I'd been reading a discussion about Game Of Thrones, and someone mentioned that 2 actors who had been on the British TV show Skins were in last week's episode.  Being unfamiliar with Skins, I went to check out who they were talking about.  Well, one of them was none other than our friend Hannah Murray, and she played Gilly on Game Of Thrones!  And of course, DS is still on her filmography list as "hippie chick".  Very cool!  (For those of you who watch GoT, Gilly is one of the many daughter-wives of that guy in the North, who was pregnant and asked for Samwell and Jon's help.  I should've paid more attention to her but will next week- I assume she'll be on again).

So I had decided to go for the complete box set from Amazon when it became available again a few weeks ago.  I received it yesterday, and it looks great!  (Haven't watched any of the episodes yet, though, lol).  I just got an e-mail from Amazon saying the price went down to $389, and they have the price guarantee, so that was very pleasant news.

I sure hope it's true too.  How do you see "almost all" of a movie, lol?

Well, maybe he saw one of the screenings, and considered it "almost all" knowing there would probably be some minor changes/edits/score additions, etc.  Or as said it could've been watching stuff in the editing room.  That was a great blog post- promising words, indeed.

Great pics, Nancy, thanks!   [easter_cool]

I don't really see any downside for DS with The Dictator moving.  It can only help, or at worst it won't make a difference.  I do think that The Avengers is going to be a MAJOR box office draw, so don't be too disappointed it if holds onto the #1 spot its second week, over DS (As an example, see how The Hunger Games is still holding on to #1 in its 3rd week).  That said, hopefully a lot of moviegoers who will have seen The Avengers in its first week will be ready for something different the following week, and will choose to see DS!  [easter_smiley]

I think I saw the trailer to this with 21 Jump Street, at least I seem to think I saw it at the theater and not on TV, and 21JS is the only film I've seen lately.  It looked really great to me, and I love John Cusack, so I'll be looking forward to it!

She said that vampire love stories are so big right now, why would they make a comedy out of DS.

LOL, I guess everyone has their own perspective.  For me, I am just thrilled that DS will be so far away from Twilight.  I mean, why do what Twilight is doing just because it is popular right now?  That's what Twilight is for, for those who like that sort of thing  [easter_grin]

I have much to catch up on and haven't read the Empire article yet, but thanks for the link to the audio interview with Grahame-Smith.  I dunno, I don't really get the notion that he or others might be "lying" or doing "damage control," just because we may not agree with the film they've chosen to make.  I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt that they're saying what they think, but that's just me :D

The one part of the interview that has me the most hopeful is when Seth started talking about the music in the trailer.  I think that I addressed this issue a few days ago, after I had seen an old Hugo trailer, after having really loved the film.  The trailer wasn't that good, and I think a large part of it (for me, anyway) was that the music used in the trailer didn't capture the heart of the film.  I said that likewise, I felt that the thing that was throwing me off the most from the DS trailer wasn't so much the scenes themselves, but the music playing over them.  Seth said that yes, that music is there in the film, but not to the extent that it would seem based on the trailer.  That remark, in addition to hearing the sound snippets from the actual score, has me hopeful that I'll enjoy the tone of the movie much more than I first thought.  Music can make a big difference in the tone.  Your mileage may vary, of course!

By the way, I can only tell from one filmgoing experience wrt the trailer, but the folks at my showing of 21 Jump Street seemed to enjoy the DS trailer.  Granted, I think that the 21 Jump Street audience may skew older (and more nostalgia-oriented) than Hunger Games, so that may in part explain the difference in reactions.

What are you using to play the score? I want to hear it but can't get it to work.

This morning, I had a little trouble as the first thing I tried to play kept buffering and buffering, and nothing happening.  I think I stopped and started again, and/or refreshed the page, then tried again, and it worked.  It seems to be working fine for me now.  Maybe it's slowing down when there's too much traffic on the site or something?  I hope if you try again it'll work for you.  For what it's worth, I'm using Firefox v. 11.0 for Mac.
And no add-ons needed for me, either.

Danny Elfman is usually hit-or-miss with me, but I love this score from what I've heard!  Granted, I've only had the chance to listen to 5 or 6 of them so far, but I love what I hear.  I'm so glad to also know that there will be a soundtrack as well as a score.  I think I will be getting both!   [easter_cool]

Thanks for the warning Cousin.  I saw your post earlier but later just googled it on my own before I checked back in here.  I found an article at filmmusicreporter.com that gave the track listing, and yes, you're right, there are MAJOR spoilers there.  Since I knew what I was getting into, that was fine for me.  But if people want to avoid them, if you're like me and are registered for Yahoo or Google news alerts, you may want to avoid clicking on any articles that have to do with the soundtrack/score.

I belong to IMDb for several other reasons, mostly for TV shows I watch, but I only check in on the DS board very rarely.  It's good of them to have hidden the spoilers, though!

Thanks to everyone, especially MB, for keeping up with all the various trailers and TV spots. I can't keep up with all the variations!  I don't really follow NCAA basketball these days (Duke fan, which wasn't so good for me this year, lol) but happened to have it on for a short time the other day and was happy to be treated to one of the TV spots.

I still have somewhat mixed feelings about all this but am adjusting to the tone.  I'm not really a twitter user but I happened to be following the Depp tweets this past weekend because Johnny was performing (on drums!) in LA and I was looking for news.  Nearly all the tweets I saw about the DS trailer were surprisingly positive.  And not all of these seemed to be from Depp/Burton fans- some were just young folks who happened to see it with 21 Jump Street or Hunger Games.  Most people seemed to be liking the character posters, too, though there was an occasional trashing.  It was funny to see that perspective, though I think I've had enough of twitter for a little while :)

For what it's worth, some other forums I belong to (not DS ones) allow rumors and I don't mind discussing rumors, so long as it's clear that that's all they are.  However, I read long ago on this forum that rumors are not allowed here, and I'm absolutely fine with that policy and respect it.  If I were to inadvertently post a rumor, forgetting the policy, I would be absolutely fine with its removal, because as Nancy says, I am agreeing to the terms here and they are certainly more than reasonable.  I have left forums when I didn't care for their policies or their moderation practices, and that is good advice for someone who isn't happy.  This is a hobby, after all! We should be here because we enjoy it.  And I do!  My only complaint is that I'm ready for some spring smilies ;)

Gosh, I've certainly come across discussion/fan boards where people aren't free to express their opinions, and this is definitely not one of them.  I can't imagine why they would say that.  Luckily, I'm not familiar with that site, so I will certainly not seek it out now   [snow_angry]

Thanks for this info, Josette.  I didn't see Piers Morgan, but I did know that Johnny was among many celebrities that added their names to Weinstein's appeal of the MPAA rating.  He ended up losing the appeal, and the film is going to be (or already has been) released unrated.

While I didn't know about the comment regarding Johnny taking it personally, I'm not surprised.  Johnny has long been a spokesman for misfits and those who are not accepted by society.  He has said that he himself felt like a misfit in high school, so it seems that people being mistreated because they're different is a sore point for him.
