she called him "bunny" (yea a HIM) but his real name was Peter Turgeon. . .

I knew his nickname was "bunny" but can't for the life of me remember where I read that, yikes.

Hee hee!

I was thinking along the lines of Maggie and "if it had been me" today too, except it was concerning Roger, whom I would've bitch-slapped til he was black and blue and then I would have seen to getting him cut out of the will.

But generally, doesn't one's own name usually appear first in line?  I'm almost always first on MY screen so I'm assuming everyone else is usually first on their own.

But even THAT isn't absolute because every once in a while somone else's name will suddenly appear before mine!

I think this should be looked into by a team of experts in the subject.....let's get to the bottom of this very important and fascinating topic.... ::)

I'm not usually visible, but since you asked I changed my preference to see what happens.  The ordering I saw was the same as I described before, except my name started out on the far left.  Each time a visitor showed up they started out on my left but the next time I checked they had moved over me, with my name back on the far left, but they remained in the order of their appearance here (with the oldest on the right).  But one cousin's name was still showing up though s/he had left the forums already, so that name stayed on my right the whole time with the others moving over it until it eventually disappeared.

That's my hypothesis for the ordering of visible names.  I nominate you to make yourself visible in order to test it. ;)

What determines the order in which the names appear?

I think the most recent additions are added to the left side, but I noticed that after a member has left the forums without logging out their name just hangs in a spot for a while.  The same goes for the order in Who's Online.  In other words, they're not really here but their name continues to appear while other member names start moving over it.  It might have to do with the default/session length setting from the last time they logged in, but that's just a guess.  Or I could be completely wrong about the order. [idontknow]

But some members do leave the forum and return again shortly.

NOW who has too much time on her hands?! ;)

Miranda joined during a very brief window of opportunity for open registrations on the macrame site.  But since she did successfully register there, MB moved her account over to the cousins list here, making her our newest member.  So she hasn't logged in here yet, but as soon as we're in touch with her and able to explain all this she'll be able to see and I'm sure appreciate the welcomes.  :D

Which was a MUCH more entertaining way of saying:

"They were always there, you twit!!  They just look strange....like everything else around here!!"

LOL.  Actually, it was my demented (pardon the pun) way of saying that the scripts became corrupted while one of the switches was being made and so a few things stopped showing up-- the smileys, for example-- but MB tracked down the problem and fixed it. [wink2]

Hi Midnite, well, my jab at the lingering "detritus" from Switch-a-rama was really meant to be tongue in cheek.  But when I made this post, my ID was still showing up as Franimal, with a note about how s/he stole Gothick's identity.  As soon as I posted, it s/Witched back to showing me as Gothick.  Then as I was navigating the boards, I noticed that some folks showed up with the two handle formula (X whose ID was swiped by Y--excuse my vagueness, I lack the photographic level of recall displayed by some here) and others were showing up in the usual way.

Hi Gothick.  I understand what you mean.  The posts made during WWsW while under the guise of another member are still showing up that way, and this includes the posts you made in the "Grandma Moses", "Iron," IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT", etc. topics.  This way, it makes more sense when you read the poster's comments about her/his new identity at the time s/he wrote those messages.  So the indication "XXX stole the identity of XXX" that's showing up in posts added during that period of WWsW is permanent.  (The poster's name is listed 2nd, btw.)  But any posts made before or after it was happening will only show the poster's name, so your identity during your visits today never included any other member's name.

I also note that the topics order is still inverted (with Current Talk at the bottom rather than the top of the main page), although the listing of posts appears to be back to the standard display format of having the original post at the top and the most recent responses at the bottom (which, really, saves a hell of a lot of mousing).

The inverted board order is staying, at least for a while.  Some members stated that they weren't aware of any other boards or couldn't find them, so now they're harder to miss. ;)

Also, the curse thing is still reversed, but I do believe that the IB stated that that was how it was going to remain.  Since I still don't "get" how that is supposed to work, I'm not going to be Curing anyone anymore.

Whether or not you use it is completely up to you.  Right now members are cursing when they like a post and curing when they don't.  There've been numerous complaints that the feature has been used unfairly, and while every member has a right to use it as they choose we acknowledge that one member did recently admit to cursing liberally and randomly when the old system was in place with their goal being to sabotage it, this despite being told that the feature is ingrained in our forum setup.  In light of that and other shocking behavior witnessed by the admins and mod regarding the feature, we flipped the results in an attempt to lighten the focus of each member on his/her own total and to offer a more constructive way for members to channel their energies toward getting rid of it if they chose to do so.

Thanks for the cute shot of Ray Carlson.  What a sweetie.

You're welcome.  :D

BTW, does anyone know how I can have a look at yesterday's montage?  I'm dying to see the Beck-a-like.

Oops, hadn't seen your post yet, CB!

I assumed you meant JK too but just peeked at the weekend montage and except for the dark hair, Ray Carlson's (Aldon Wicks) resemblance to Beck is very striking.

I can post the image from the montage if anyone wishes to see it again, or you can see another capture of him at Graeme's site under the Extras section: http://www.burkedevlin.freewebsites.com/10pt1970/index.htm

Gothick who's wondering when the detritus from Witch Switch week is going to get cleaned up here

PS>>>MB...After I cursed you I think yesterday (Fri?) so YOU TOO got to the 300th mark, I went to curse?? someone else, but a message: Patti, you've cursed more than 60 people this week, take it easy (or some such thing). I don't think I cursed 60 people in a 6 or 7 day period...was this part of the 'switching' week?

There really is a 60 casts limit, but it isn't measured over a weekly period. It's however long it takes someone to accumulate 60 casts and then they have to wait a full week before they can begin using the Karma feature again. I haven't looked into how many times you've used the feature and am just replying to explain its purpose.

We've been saying all along that the feature has been very popular among a majority of our members.  And we've taken a LOT of heat for saying that from some members that refuse to believe this is possible-- we've heard complaints that it's only being used by a handful of people with an axe to grind, been asked if we pad our own and others' totals in order to back up our claim, and we've even been directly accused of lying because, as one member told me, "everybody hates it and nobody is using it".  But the reason we instituted the limits, initially on its use per day and soon after on its accumulated usage is because, as we've been trying to tell everybody, it's a very popular feature and some members had been using it as many as 50, 60, 70 times a day... even as much as 100 times in a visit.  We're pleased that many are enjoying the feature and the anonymity of its use remains, but limits became necessary from our perspective because as you can imagine, the db became cluttered with karma information, all of which has to be deleted on a regular basis in order to free up space.  So we still welcome the use and enjoyment of the karma feature and assure everyone that we have no interest in misrepresenting or misusing it, and despite the hassle it has caused for us we still contend it is meant as a fun feature, but the limits relieve us of a lot of work, particularly our webmaster.

Sorry you asked?  ;)

Current Talk '03 II / Angelique Stokes Collins (de Winter)

Though it's debatable whether RT Angelique genuinely loved Barnabas, we know why she never put a spell on him to force him to love her (she wanted him to come to her willingly, blah blah) and so she used his little sister, etc., to get to him.  But I can't recall similar discussions about PT Angelique.  So...

Do you think PT Angelique really feels anything for Quentin?  Do you think she ever did?

Instead of risking his life (see Raineypark's post about Ange's incompetence) to get Maggie to return to Collinwood just so she could toy with her, why didn't Angelique put a spell on Quentin to make him fall for her instead?

These questions have been discussed here before, but since we have many new members...

Do you think Angie's other men-- Bruno, Cyrus, Will, Dameon, Trask, Roger-- were once her lovers?

How would you explain a 30 year old woman (according to her gravestone) being mother to Daniel (who was played by a 13 year old actor)?

If you think it's necessary, please use spoiler code:

[spoiler]spoiler goes here[/spoiler] out of respect for our newbies. :D

it's a done deal. The only thing that still remains a mystery is how a character who supposedly died in the Buffy finale will resurface on Angel. But knowing Joss, I'm sure he has something quite interesting up his sleeve.

My guess ("I have a theory...") is that the Shanshu prophecy introduced on Angel actually refers to Spike fulfilling HIS destiny.  All it said, after all, was that a vampire with a soul will be rewarded with the ability to live and die, and Wesley just assumed it was talking about Angel.  And Spike certainly redeemed himself with that final (or so we thought at the time) unselfish act of self-sacrifice.  A human Spike might be interesting, and why would we need 2 vampires-with-a-soul that can't go out into the sunlight, though I do prefer my Spike on the pasty side. ;)

Quote
BTW, I still have 3 Angels to watch, too. ;) Despite not having seen the 7 episodes previous to it, I did watch the Buffy finale because, well, I just had to, but I still have no idea how Angel's season ended.

Angel finale good.  You will dig.
