[backcolor=navy] and you know that you want these.  So, here are three captures from episode #673:

thank you, most mysterious one, once again, you've fulfilled a fantasy of mine ... sadly the last 3 photos failed to display, perhaps hitting the old reload button with extra determination a few times will work.

I was going to write a "Tribute to the Stud Wolf" post today ... I think the episode broadcast is the last time we get to savor the sight of Chris' bared chest on the series.  Thankfully, DC was sensible enough to include a brief glimpse in the film version.

I wonder whether Don Briscoe was the first shirtless hunk in soap opera history? Once again, DS sets a trend.  It's amusing when they get to 1897 and there are SO MANY times Quentin comes stumbling into the foyer with his shirt in tatters.

A red blooded fan of the male of the species,

Mr. G.

It is interesting to see a shirtless hunk who does NOT have "washboard abs"! Though where is the chest hair and am I the last person on this earth who still thinks that is attractive?

I have to wonder if DC and crew had any idea of the fans who would live for these moments....

It's funny because by today's soap standards he looks pretty scrawny. He'd probably never get a job on a soap today.

I'm a little baffled by the whole chest-shaving thing that seems so prevalent today. Seems like a strange thing to do if you ask me.

Ah....the good old days.....

....when you didn't have to look as though you had just descended from Mount Olympus in order to work in the the movies and on TV.

Bad enough actors have to look like Gods....can someone explain to me why it's necessary for singers and musicians to be attractive?  What the hell does looking like Helen of Troy have to do with Rock and Roll?

Think about it.....with the likely exceptions of Lara Parker and David Selby, who among the entire DS cast would stand a chance in hell of being hired to work on a soap opera today?

Hmmmm....I think I've been up on this soap box before.

I think chest hair is great.  I dont understand why everyone is so into smooth bodies.  Its like a boy, i think chest hair tells us you are man..

and it is nice not to see the chisel perfect body.

Va-va-VOOMMMM!  this topic needs to be retitled Country of the DS HUNKS!

Now I just wish I had the technical skill needed to cut out Beth in that photo and replace her with shirtless Chris Jennings.

It'd be HUNK-A-RAMA 69 97!

I don't like chest hair. I like the boyish look. Don Briscoe needed some more meat on his bones, too skinny. I can see that rib cage sticking out. Slocum could've used another 15 pounds too. They say the camera adds 10 pounds. Not in their case!

Here's the dialogue to go with the photo:

QUENTIN: (staring at Chris' nether regions) Chris, you're an ANIMAL!!!

CHRIS: (slowly raising head with an evil leer) Is that the pot calling the kettle beige?  Here, let me rip off some more of that shirt for you.

Hey Connie,

Did you have the same thing for breakfast that I did the other day before posting my thoughts on Nicholas Blair's current "activities" in Hades?  (Evidently, old Bob isn't the only one who is "totally nuts" (or, at least, slightly flaky).

Thanks for your listing of Dr. Hoffman's office hours: Mon. to Thurs. 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM  (A doctor with office hours on Wednesday, thank the good Lord!)

By the way, FYI, the good Dr. Hoffman holds her group therapy session on Thursday afternoon - 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Bob the Bartender

PS Don't forget to bring your own pillow.  That wooden floor in Dr. Hoffman's office can become quite cold and uncomfortable after the first hour of "group."

But as dementia goes, what's posted here is pretty tame - particularly considering what else is out there on so many other message boards/newsgroups on the Internet. Now, you know I was just joking with you. [lghb] But since you suggested it, I decided to do a search of your posts for the word "demented," with the intent of apologizing to you, but believe it or not, you've never called anyone on the forum demented - at least not using that exact word. [winkg] However, more than once, you've characterized Angelique's obsession with Barnabas as demented (a perfect word for it [thumb]), you've claimed the print in a book about Tod Browning's career looked demented, you've praised Peter Lorre's performance as a demented child murderer in Fritz Lang's "M," you've lauded John Karlen's ability to easily shift Willie's demeanor from docile and timid, to demented and overwrought, back to cringing and sly at the same time (Karlen IS truly amazing), and you've called the DS set decorator demented for choosing to use acid green and day-glo orange candles for the 1795/76 storyline...

Well, the majority of the people who post here are over 18 - even if we don't always act like it (and wouldn't it be awfully boring if we did?) :D

The Adult_Access_Only mod creates an adults only category, which can then have adults only boards added to it. It might surprise you to learn that Midnite and I have actually discussed installing it - but truthfully, the only reason we haven't is because we figure that with this group everyone (including ourselves) would always be reading and posting over there and the regular boards would get barely any attention. Well, this is certainly an entertaining thread!  A shrine to the Briscoe-licious one in all his shirtless glory!

A while back, I posted my thoughts on an alternative version of DS starring Grayson Hall, Carol Channing, and Lovelady Powell as the divalicious Hoffman sisters (Julia, Margo, and Portia).  Steve suggested naming it SEQUINED SHADOWS and including much romantic intrigue among the various Collinsport hunks.  Seeing those vidcaps inspired thoughts of a new element of SS:  playing up Collinsport as a beach resort town, where all the men surf, play volleyball, and lounge in their bathing suits.

You know, if DC is looking for a fresh approach for a new DS series, he need look no further than this board!  <lol>  Maybe he could strike a deal with Showtime to air it after QUEER AS FOLK.

Regards,

John

John,  WHAT A FABULOUS IDEA!!! Queer as Shadows--now THERE's a show for the new millennium.

Let's see, for the pilot episode we could start with a 3 way between Joe, Frank Garner, and Buzz Hackett, cutting away to Chris drowning his sorrows at the Blue Whale and being heavily cruised by Harry, while young drifter Willie Loomis is about to receive a very special initiation as he heads with his tools towards that mysterious mausoleum at Eagle Hill Cemetery ...
