Television comes to Collinwood!!!
« on: August 19, 2002, 06:34:04 PM »
Well, I'm sure many of you have wondered about this and now the secret is finally revealed:

[shadow=red,left,300]YES, THERE IS TV IN COLLINSPORT![/shadow]

Assuming there is and was, what tv shows would your favorite characters be watching?  Since this is all fantasy, any station, movie rerun, or show past or present is acceptable.  Here are a few ideas of my own to get you started:

Barnabas Collins:  Batman, The Weather Channel (for all those walks to Collinwood and bat flights during inclement weather), Crossing Over with John Edward (who needs a seance?)

Julia Hoffman:  One Flew Over the Cuckoo?s Nest

Angelique Bouchard-Collins: Bewitched, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Carolyn Stoddard: The Young and the Restless, Blind Date

Roger Collins: CNN, the McNeil/Lehrer Report

Elizabeth Collins Stoddard:  To the Manor Born, Keeping up Appearances, Six Feet Under, One Foot in the Grave

David Collins: Mod Squad, Monkees, Brady Bunch

Vicky Winters:  The Nanny

Prof. Eliot Stokes: NOVA, Scientific American, CNN, Haunted History

Adam: The Munsters

Eve: Bride of Frankenstein

Mrs. Johnson: HSN, Cooking with Julia Child

Nicholas Blair:  Mainly toothpaste and Brooks Brothers commercials.

(yes, yes, I know they didn't have tv in 1897!)

Jenny Collins:  All my Children

Judith Collins:  The Dating Game

Quentin Collins: The Playboy Channel, Temptation Island

Beth Chavez: Upstairs, Downstairs

I am convinced that Mrs. Johnson was a diehard fan of "Rawhide," and that Quentin, Roger and David watched "Star Trek."

Elizabeth would NEVER miss either The Lawrence Welk Show, or The Donna Reed Show.  No middle-aged woman back then would.

Carolyn circa 1966 with the bouncy bouncy flip would be watching American Bandstand.  8)

I think David might like Lost in Space, The Adams Family and the Munsters. I easily see him identifying with Eddie Munster.  ;D

I'd love to see Angelique take on the Charmed Ones and vanquish 'em real good! Especially that damned Rose McGowan!

Hey gang,

I think that if Adam happened to tune into TV Land at 9:30 PM (EST), he'd be in for the most pleasant shock of his life when "The Munsters" started to air.

"My God, these are my kind of people!" Adam would probably exclaim.  Tears would come to Adam's eyes as he watched that loving, happy couple, Herman and Lily Munster, the parents that Adam never had!  And who would not love to have a wonderfully zany and kind-hearted grandfather like Grandpa Munster?

Of course, Eddie would be the perfect little brother for Adam.  (They'd be like the supernatural versions of Wally and "Beaver" Cleaver.)  And, the blonde and beautiful Marilyn would be the ideal "kissing cousin" for Adam.

I think Adam would pack his extensive collection of turtleneck sweaters into his suitcase and hit the road immediately for 1313 Mockintgbird Lane, USA, much to Nicholas' chagrin.

Roger would likely watch the Huntley/Brinkley Report on NBC while downing a couple of sherrys...

Harry Johnson would be dazzled by Robert Wagner's weekly exploits in It Takes A Thief.

Julia would be taken aback by the master criminal who greatly resembles her on an episode of The Girl From U.N.C.L.E..[hdscrt]

Mrs. Johnson would identify with the weekly trials and tribulations of Hazel.

Willie would be swept away by the frontier brotherhood of Bonanza.

Liz would sit in her bedroom, watching reruns of The Loretta Young Show.

Professor Stokes might very well dig The Twilight Zone.

David would love Batman and the witty adult banter of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show.

Vickie and Carolyn would likely watch That Girl over at Maggie's cottage. With maybe Peyton Place as a nightcap.

Sheriff Patterson would sit home, wishing he were as cool as Jack Webb in Dragnet 1967, but would likely identify more with the good folks of Mayberry R.F.D..

And Barnabas wouldn't have a TV in the Old House; there'd be nothing on the screen that he could sink his teeth into...[fangs] He'd probably sitting quietly in his wingback, reading a book of poetry. Or something by Bram Stoker. [read]
