Now I know this isn't as earthshaking as TLATKLS losing the blonde wig, and of course, we don't flinch when we see Joan Bennett with her hair up one day and down the next. But it just occurred to me that Joel Crothers' current 'do -- closely cropped, conservative, in a seemingly lighter shade, and quite straight -- is a noticeable departure from the thicker, darker, wavy, almost curly locks he had been sporting in his earlier appearances.

Does anyone know which of these styles came closer to his "real" hair?

Ben,

I don't know about the hair style, but, at least, I believe that it really was Mr. Crothers own head of hair.

Bob the Bartender, who wonders if Collinsport had a barber like "Floyd the Barber" from Mayberry, NC?

I don't mind wavy hair, I get so tired of straight hair on women. I wish it would go out of style for a month on TV.But, I got a kick out of Julia's different hairdos throughout DS.

Hey Ben!

If memory serves me correctly, I think the curly look was closer to Joel Crothers' own hair. I seem to recall seeing photos of him from the late '70s/early '80s with a full head of curly hair.

I wouldn't be surprised if D.C. and Company felt that a conservative hairstyle was more appropriate for Joe Haskell and requested that J.C. keep it that way.

Regards,

John

I always 'flinch' a bit when thinking of her.

Har (I should be so lucky!)

I have a couple of 'Family Feud' shows, with Joe when he was on less relevant shows, and his hairstyle there was very similar to the one he had on Our Show. If that is any indication of an answer.

Cheers,
Ringo
