A fateful encounter at the diner, very well played. But shouldn't Maggie have emptied and washed the urn for closing?
At the Old House, Willie has already been working hard--the broken windows are fixed, the drawing room at least has been cleaned, the furniture restored and the chandelier repaired. The portrait of Josette has been moved,
presumably up to “her” room
--leaving a blank space above the mantel, just waiting to be filled.
After Joe and Maggie (who make an adorable couple!) leave, Willie, already fearful for Maggie, dares to ask Barnabas, What do you intend to do with that girl? That is not your concern, Barnabas replies coldly. The very coldness of his reply tells us his intentions. But it seems that as far as Willie is concerned, more than just the drawing room of the Old House is being repaired.
Our first shot of Barnabas gazing out into the night is indeed wonderful--but of course, no proper vampire would need a candle to light his way.
