I post this because 1) there are many Twin Peaks fans on the forum, and 2) because the '91 DS was often compared to TP:

I can't wait for this! Fire. Walk with me! [8_1_1] [8_1_1] [8_1_1]

I think they've had ideas about its coming back now, since the show was on originally. Remember they showed a glimpse of the future supposedly, the dwarf dancing, the curtain, an older McLaughlin (name?) sitting in the chair? That was 20 or more years in the future.

I practically did a spit take with my coffee and my cherry pie fell on the floor!!!!!!!
I think I called or emailed or texted at least 10 people yesterday about this... Oh the great memories this brought back watching our fuzzy VHS tapes I had of this show.
One of my friends reminded me that now Lynch can really do what his vision is, without the constraints of network censors... (nudity and disturbing imagery being his forte.)
In nosing around on the internet, the recent Blu-ray set of TP has like almost 2 hours of deleted scenes! (most of which I think is from the movie, but looked like very interesting material.)

The USA network show Psych did a TP tribute episode a few years back entitled "Dual Spires" with a few of the original players. It's worth looking for if you're a fan.

My friends' Labrador Retriever loved this show! [8_1_209]

UR I had a Pomeranian who liked to watch "Buffy"! [citrouille]

Too bad they weren't Nielsen families, right?
I've told this story to several Twin Peaks actors, Sheryl Lee, Russ Tamblyn and Kimmie Robertson. I hope at least one of them related the story to David Lynch.
-
Funny you mention that because a few months back I had met James Marsters and told him that tale...
He's quite the animal lover himself and did seem genuinely affected by the story, because of course by this time the dog had passed on into that great White Lodge in the sky... [hall2_cry]

Robot Quentin, I had the exact same experience with Sheryl Lee. She was very sweet and compassionate. [hall2_cry]

5 character predictions for the 'Twin Peaks' companion book to the Showtime series (http://www.zap2it.com/blogs/twin_peaks_companion_book_predictions_showtime_series-2014-10)

Extremely interesting article, MB. Thank you for sharing it

It was my pleasure - particularly when members here are obviously interested in the TP reboot. [hall2_smiley] It's odd, though, that they changed the title of the article after I posted the link because it's now called "Cooper and Audrey OTP and 4 other 'Twin Peaks' companion book predictions."

I hope peggy lipton's available...
-
the OS aired when I was in college and at some point in it's run they (quite foolishly in retrospect) moved it to Saturday nights...
I recall going to "keg" parties and everyone crowding into the one dorm room that had a television set and watching. it was "must see".

My understanding so far (though I'm getting it all from this thread) is that it's a continuation of the story 20 or 25 years later, rather than a rebooting, which would mean recasting the same characters, and retelling the same story from the beginning. I really, really hope it's a continuation, not a reboot.

That's exactly how it's being done. However, even though many have been contacted about reprising their roles, there hasn't been any word on whether or not any of the original actors will. So even without it being a reboot, several characters could end up being played by different actors...

Ask Matt: Should Twin Peaks Be Revived? (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Ask-Matt-Twin-Peaks-Person-Interest-Greys-Anatomy-NCIS-Blackish-Arrow-1088199.aspx)
(Check out question #1.)
-
There's certainly a precedent for recasting. Moira Kelly replaced Lara Flynn Boyle in Fire Walk with Me when Ms. Boyle opted not to do the film. And, since Frank Silva and Jack Nance have passed away, those parts would need to be recast or eliminated.
-
Recastings hardly ever work, but as long as it's new story, continuing from and adding to the story already told, I'm not against it. Recasting everybody from a show with young actors and starting the story from scratch, or re-telling the original story, that I object to.
J Michael Straczinski (sp?) is apparently planning to reboot Babylon Five as a film, which seems crazy. But at least the same guy is making it...
The weirdness is the star in TP, more than any actor, come to think of it. I'm not sure TP hinged on any particular actor. Getting Kyle MacLaughlin in there would be great as an "anchor" if nothing else, though. It's tough and uncomfortable breaking in a lot of new actors, into your imagination... It's "work" that as a viewer, I really don't want to have to do. [candle_in_skull]

Joan Chen is game to return to 'Twin Peaks' and come out of the drawer knob (http://www.zap2it.com/blogs/joan_chen_twin_peaks_2016_return_josie_packard_drawer-2014-12)
-
That is certainly worth tuning in for! [santa_thumb]
-
Is that where we left her.... in a drawer knob? Well in Eraserhead a lady lived in the radiator... I have random VHS with gaps, so I missed a lot.
-
Cooper was supposed to encounter Josie Packard (or some aspect of her) in the Black Lodge. Chen was not available, so the bit was omitted.
-
Thanks. I don't have enough context in my head to get that, though.

Exactly, RoboQ. You took the invective right out of my mouth.
