OT: Message Board Incompetence

Does anyone have the problem of keeping up with this board?  There's so much posting I can't keep up - lately especially.  It's like you aren't at the computer for maybe 10-12 hours, then you login and all of a sudden there are pages of new posts!  How do y'all keep up???  I figure I miss about 30-40% of the messages.  
Am I just slow or something?  Help!

Any-way sometimes i log onto to here as well and
find so many new posts i guess maybe people
must stay up all night to write them.  I usually
post my new ones after i see DS that night.

You're very sweet.  I'm not "this whole board" though - LOL - only a small part.

What I wanna know is....you're gonna make sure you get to next year's Fest, aren't you?

It can get daunting especially when you've been to Mexico and New Orleans and come back to so many messages here and then 180+ from the JuliaList. . .but for here Iuse the "New Postings" option. . .are you trying that Connie?  It really helps . . .

You are not the only one Connie.  I have a very hard time trying to keep up and I know that I miss many posts.  Although "New Postings" does help somewhat, I am still presented with literally dozens of posts, some of which I have, in fact, already seen.  I'm just resigned to the fact that I won't see everything.

i have to check several times a day Connie but do find if i miss a day there are a few to look at! There are a lot of cousins now[wavey]

I know what you mean, Connie.  There is a great deal of posting here, enough to fill up the first three pages of the board in an average day.  I'm very lucky because my schedule allows me to visit several times a day and I can avoid being swamped.  However, I'm almost reluctant to go on vacations anymore unless the hotel offers Internet access because I don't want to miss out on all the messages.  (Yes, I know I'm addicted, lol.)  I think it's worth the effort to read everything though.  I learn so much from the people here, (and not just about DS) and enjoy more laughs than I do from other sources.  In any case, I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to catch up on all of the topics in December when DS is supplanted by all of Sci-Fi's marathons.

LOL!!  Annie, that's me!

Annie, I think you're hitting the key along with the "CAPS" by mistake. Make sure you're just hitting the bracket key [code]  with the word right in between the brackets and don't leave any spaces.  Hope this works for you.

Sometimes the board does get pretty hectic with all of it's messages but I really enjoy that.  I love the board being busy and I find that using the "New Posts" icon really helps me out alot.  I think when it gets to a point where there's hardly any messages to read then you have a problem.  ;-)

I can't keep up either. What frustrates me is that if I do make the effort, there are far too many "me too" posts

So basically I skim. If it looks intriguing, I'll open a topic, if not, too bad. I miss a lot that way, but sometimes that's the way it goes . . .

I hafta admit that I can't read every post or even every subject, but I try my best.  But so much better that we've got such a productive troop rather than having a message board where something new pops on only every two weeks.  There's always something here for everyone!

Sometimes I don't get to my computer ( to do FUN things) for several days. I do miss a lot, and will never have enough time to read everything. But I manage to always find some posts that point out some amazing things about DS. I love the analyses of actions and scenes that I must have seen four or five times and never noticed these details!! In many cases DS takes on a whole new level of intrigue!! Thanks everyone!!

I wouldn't be able to keep up without the New Posts Search feature (what a life saver!). But I do manage to read everything (while the dust and the dishes pile up around me, lol). What I have trouble with is making the time to start new topics. If I have something I want to discuss I usually have to wait until someone else starts the topic or brings it up in a current thread.
