Can someone tell me where Collinwood is?

I am going to Newport RI this Saturday and would very much like to see the house they used for Colllinwood.  Thanks for any info.

I remember it being near the waterfront.  It's actually not hard to find.  When we needed to find it, we had just finished touring the Breakers and I simply asked one of the tour guides and she gave us easy directions.  If you look for Salve Regina College (I think that's its name), you'll find it, since the college uses it I think for their music department.  At least when I was there, you're free to walk the grounds around the mansion, and can step inside into the foyer.

Hi Anubis,

If you take Bellevue Avenue down to Ruggles and turn left, you will indeed run in to Seaview. It will be on your right just past the tennis courts.
If you would like to view the house as it appears in the opening of the show, continue past the house and make a right on Whetmore. Drive down the point  where the hedges on your right end.  Now, depart your car and take a peek through those hedges. :)

You need to go to THE BLACK PEARL and get Lobster Tail!  OMG best Lobster I have EVER had.  I didn't speak for an hour I was so busy savoring it.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  It is Salve Regina College that I am going to visit.  When I went to their web site for some information and looked at the virtual tour of the grounds and found that Collinwood was there I freaked out.  I then read in one of my books that the Black Pearl was used for the Blue Whale and it was so close I really went nuts.  It's funny, I live only about 40 miles from the Lyndhurst mansion and have never been there.  I just don't feel the same about it as the house they used on the TV show.  I can't wait to see it.

The weekend weather is suppose to be good.  Have a blast!  You have to go to the Black Pearl it is a must.  If it isn't too cool take a stroll over the a bit of the cliff walk.  Seing Collinwood from the cliff walk is something you will never forget.

Wish I was going to Newport this weekend.

I wish I had a better memory for remembering place names.  I ate at a French restaurant in Newport, located in a house (they had converted the living and dining rooms for seating).  The place was packed (and this was a weeknight), but fortunately we had reservations.  They served one of the best chateaubriands I ever sank my teeth into.  Like butta!
