Hi Guys!.
Well, I accidentally ruptured the Achilles tendon on my right foot (like anyone would do this intentionally) and I will be going into the hospital later today for an operating to repair it. It looks like I will be going to a rehab facility afterwards for an undetermined time. I will check in when I am able to. The boards will certainly give me a much needed distraction. Thanks in advance. Hopefully, I'll be back soon.
-
Rog, I hope you have a speedy recovery!
-
Sending my best wishes for a rapid recovery. Please do keep in touch. We'll miss you!
-
Surgery went fine, thank you. Finally got to eat, which I devoured. Nothing else to report at the moment. [snow_smiley]
-
I'm glad everything worked out fine. [snow_smiley] And know that when you're up to it, there will be plenty of new Leviathans Complete This Phrase / Fill In The Blank(s) and Caption This! topics for you to play with and hopefully cheer up your days with. [snow_wink]

Ouch, Uncle Roger! I imagine that was a bit painful! Keep off that ankle and get well!

Hi Uncle Roger praying for your speedy recovery my dear.
Get plenty of rest and come back soon . Miss your smile .
Love, Anne [snow_kiss]:):)

Uncle Roger, are you still at the facility?
How are you feeling?
Take it easy on eating (especially if you had any type of anesthesia).
God speed.

Yes, I am still at the hospital. Not sure when they will be sending me to the rehab facility, maybe Thursday. No pain (haven't asked for pain meds either) and I am reasonably comfortable.
-
Wonderful news, Unc!
-
Glad it went well and that you're not in pain, Uncle Roger. It's nice that you're still able to check in. Good luck for the rehab.
-
Glad to hear you're recovering, sending best wishes!

They moved me to the rehabilitation facility tonight. There has been some pain, post surgery. Nothing I can't handle. Well, with the help of morphine and percocet. Gosh, I sound like Courtney Love! Nothing else on the agenda for tonight. We will see what tomorrow brings. [snow_smiley] [snow_smiley]

They started me on physical/occupational therapy, which is essential because of the number of stairs in my apartment building. So far, so good. They seem pleased with my progress thus far. I am too! And I am very happy to report that I have been in very little pain.
-
Great news, Uncle Roger!! :) :)
-
Okay, it's been a week now; I'm ass-u-ming you're probably in more pain now (PT/age).
Are you at your home?
When you do go home, is there someone who can 'hang-out'/help a couple times per day?
Hope you're feeling GREAT very soon.
Love,
Patti

I am still at the rehab facility for an unspecified period. I have been receiving physical/occupational therapy to get me ready for going back home.
No, I really haven't experienced much pain at all. I haven't needed (or wanted) the painkillers since Thursday. I can get them when I need them but I'm fine without them.
I will have care when I go home but specifics have not been discussed yet.
-
It's so nice to hear that things are working out so well. [snow_happy] And hopefully that will continue throughout your whole recovery.
-
Thanks! I'm sure that it will go ahead just fine! I've been through worse (cancer surgery in 1987). This is inconvenient but certainty not unendurable. [Witch_Potion_Animated] [Witch_Potion_Animated]

Field trip to see the surgeon today! Everything is healing properly and he is very pleased with my progress. Next week, he's going to remove the stitches and fit me with a boot. Nancy Sinatra worthy, I hope! Once I can start putting weight on the foot, I should be able to head back home. [cheerleader] [cheerleader] [cheerleader] [cheerleader]

Sounds great!!

Thanks, everyone. Seriously, this hasn't been all that bad. I don't mean to go all Pollyanna but a positive attitude makes a big difference in situations like this!
-
Unc, you're amazing!
-
Thanks, Midnite. [snow_smiley] [snow_smiley] The only time you'll hear me singing Poor Poor Pitiful Me is if I should happen to be singing along with Linda Ronstadt. [sun] [sun] [sun] [snow_greedy]

As of today, I am now independent. I don't need any assistance transferring myself from the bed to the wheelchair and back again (Don't tell anyone here that I've been doing that for a week. Ssh!) My balance has improved too. I can stand on the good foot for up to 20 minutes. The next step is getting the stitches out later this week. Once I can put weight on the other foot, then it shouldn't be too much longer until I can go home. [8341] [8341] [8341]

Lips sealed like Belinda Carlisle? [snow_wink] [snow_wink] [snow_wink]

Definitely!
(And I love that song - I've been hearing it a lot on the radio lately.)

The stitches came out today! I have my boot (Alas, not Nancy Sinatra worthy but I guess that I will just have to cope.) I can start putting some weight on the foot now. So it appears that my sojourn will be coming to an end before too much longer.
-
Great news! Though it's so unthinking of them not to have Nancy Sinatra worthy boots. [snow_sad] [snow_cheesy]
-
Well, that's just going to have to go down on their permanent record, which will follow them for the rest of their lives. [snow_rolleyes] [snow_rolleyes]

Great news!! :)

It appears that this part of the ordeal is coming to an end. The surgeon was very pleased with my progress and gave the okay for me to go home tomorrow! I am able to get around without any difficulty and have been able to do stairs too. Still no driving for a few weeks but I am thrilled!
-
And I think I can safely say that we're all thrilled for you. [snow_smiley]
-
Yay!! [cheer]
-
I came home early this afternoon. Promptly took a nap. There's nothing like your own home and your own bed.

That's for sure. [snow_wink]
Rest comfortably and don't overdo - we don't want to hear about any setbacks. [snow_smiley]

Will do!! [snow_smiley] [snow_smiley]
