« on: August 01, 2005, 02:55:45 AM »
Great news for Grayson's Legion:  Turner Classic Movies will be running Night of the Iguana once a month for the next three months.  For those who haven't seen it, here are three opportunities to do so.  The schedule is as follows:

  • August 30, 2005 at 2:15 PM ET
  • September 8, 2005 at 4:30 PM ET
  • October 6, 2005 at 12:00 PM ET

Enjoy!

John

You WILL mark your calendar AND smile...you...you beast! ;) (whoops - that was more like a combo of grayson's character Pepe (from Satan In High Heels) and Judith (from this flick)...besides, I'm sure Steve could do a much better impression of her than I EVER could. lol)

Thanks for the heads-up John...one can NEVER get enough of that Academy Award nominated actress as far as I'm concerned.  ;D   :-*

Hugs,

Heather

Thanks John.  Great news.  Y' know, I was thinking its great that she was in the MOVIE version, so we can see her performance over and over.

But here's an interesting question -- don't know if anyone knows the answer though.  Knowing how often the play is revived not to mention performed in summer stock and regional theater, and how many of the DS performers have heavy stage resumes -- has anyone ever checked to see HOW many DS alumni have played roles in it on stage?  ( I know there's AT LEAST one.)

Inquiring theater wonks are suddenly curious about this.....   [book_study]

I know Chris Pennock will be playing Rev. Shannon in an upcoming production at the Actors' Studio in Hollywood.  He announced this at the Festival.

Heh, heh.  You mean Selby, of course.  He had Burton's role in L.A.

The original stage play was markedly changed for the film version.  I think the play was set in the 1930s and there was a German family staying at Mismaloya...  I still can't get my mind around Bette Davis on Broadway playing the role taken in the film by Ava Gardner!

David Selby played the role Richard Burton played in NoTI? I did not know that (sad, I don't know any of the character's names....).

By chance, did D. Selby talk to any Hall's (re Grayson's experience with the play/movie?)

Can you get your mind around Marie Wallace playing the role in a 1970s production in Minnesota?  ;D

She has a photo on her web site. David Canary appears with her.

So, yesterday, while Angel was on commercial, I surfed to NoTI. Burton was giving a talk to Deborah Kerr....I could TOTALLY imagine David Selby speaking with eloquence. Did DS get 'sketched' (above scene has D.K. sketching Burton)??

Yikes -- Work and life get crazy for a few days and now I am so far behind!  Thanks Professor -- once you said it I remembered him saying that at the Fest (and wanted to smack myself in the head, cause I KNEW there was something tickling at the back of my mind!)

Heh, heh. You mean Selby, of course. He had Burton's role in L.A.

Yup, that one stuck in my mind probably cause I had done the play/author cross reference so recently.  But what really got me going on this was that "Iguana" tends to be one of those plays that I see turn up pretty regulary when I get interested in an actor's work.  Found it a pretty consistant pattern with the Trek actors, for example.  That and Hedda Gabler and Measure for Measure seem to be the givens.

Can you get your mind around Marie Wallace playing the role in a 1970s production in Minnesota?.

Hmm.  Marie Wallace I could see... but not Bette Davis.  Oh, and whoever asked the name of the male character played by Selby and to be played by Pennock, its Reverend Shannon (he's a defrocked priest).

FireRose, this is absolutely GORGEOUS!

*about to faint from the sheer beauty of what is before his eyes*

As a Grayson Hall fan, I thank you!  Love the billing across the top of the lobby card, too!
