Title: Slay Ride
Post by: scout75 on September 10, 2002, 06:00:51 PM
14 days and counting 'til we get poppin' fresh new Buffy!

Of special interest to Midnite will be the Anya-centric 5th episode, where we finally learn why she's so scared of them cute little bunnies!

I don't watch Buffy - so I had to ask at one time what the "bunny" reference meant.  But, I'm curious.  You're talking about new episodes, so how do you know that the 5th one is going to show this?  I could see some advance advertising hinting at the first or possibly even the 2nd episode, but I can't imagine how you would know so much about the 5th!!

Josette,

The demand for Buffy and Angel spoilers has led to a plentiful supply of them on the net, and one doesn't have to look very hard to find them.  Most are leaked by people behind the scenes (the creator of the shows-- Joss Whedon-- demonstrates the same degree of self-restraint as our MB!), and sometimes the actors themselves let tidbits slip during public appearances.  They also film around here and you can occasionally get close enough to see what's going on, as any student that attends Cal State Northridge (posing as the new Sunnydale High; oops, was that a spoiler for anybody?) can tell you.  Sometimes I try to avoid the spoilers (as with the Season 6 finale, but don't think I wasn't tempted), and sometimes you can't help it-- you read it in a magazine article or on an e-list.  But knowing doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the show, and in the case of a character's death near the end of last season I was glad I knew about it ahead of time because I think it would've been too awful a shock otherwise.

Things sure have changed since the DS days, eh?

Hmmm - knowing how Joss operates, I'm not quite sure how I should interpret that remark. [rleyeb] [winkb]

They sure have! Nowadays the soap press reveals so many plot points ahead of time that the only way to be surprised anymore is to avoid reading them entirely! DS wouldn't have been nearly as much fun as it was back in the '60s and '70s if we weren't almost constantly on the edge of our seats wondering what was going to happen to the characters next.

Take Barnabas' staking in 1897, for example. If the soap press had operated back then as they do today, we would have known weeks before that it was going to happen, but not to worry because Frid was only taking time off to do a play and both he and Barnabas would be back in four weeks. Now, where would the fun have been in that? ::) (Not to mention that thousands of fans wouldn't have flooded ABC with mail demanding to know if Barnabas was really dead and if Frid was off the show for good. ;))

Oh, it was totally meant as a compliment.  Creating suspense-- it's a talent. [smlyb]

What Midnite said.

Though Buffy spoilers are easier to trip over than ones for Angel. I was in a state of shock when Wesley got his throat slit by Justine and Holtz disappeared into the hell dimension with Baby Connor...

I don't think anyone saw that--or Wesley's subsequent fall from grace and slide into darkness--coming at all...

Not at all. And I'm really looking forward to seeing where they go with that this season. I've read that it's going to be one of the major plots.

I'm also really looking forward to the return of Faith. [hello]

Having Faith on both Buffy and Angel will absolutely rock. From what I've read, Whedon has had what he calls an "incredible" Faith story on the backburner for a year or so that'll play out on Buffy.

And if the few Angel spoilers around are actually correct, her appearance on that show should be wild, fun & scary. I can't wait for Connor to meet his Auntie Faith...

Gee, I made Ziti last night and finished the last of it tonight.

If I'd only known that I should have waited to make it until tomorrow...

You didn't know "The Soprano's" season premiere was tonight?  Pepe, you really need to get out of the computer room more often!!

Rainey, who is hiding in HER computer room, counting down to 9pm, while her cousins clean up her kitchen! [lghy]

No, I knew it was the 15th, but I don't have HBO. I've never watched much TV. And I get to watch even less now that we're running the entire forum ourselves. [winkb]

Re: Sopranos, I don't think MB is missing anything.  Count me among the Italian-Americans that despise the show and wish it would go away. :-/

Re: Angel, I thought those plot twists were pretty shocking too, scout75, though I'm not as big a watcher of that show since Darla was staked. :'(

Count me among those not impressed by The Sorpranos. I don't have HBO, but my little sister does and taped several for me. After watching them, I was like, "This is what the fuss is all about?!"

Well, technically, Midnite, Darla staked herself to save Baby Connor, which was yet another plot twist I didn't see coming. But this was an incredible year for the show and I think the new season--which begins October 6--will have even more big shockers. If nothing else, you gotta watch for Wesley's blossoming relationship with Lilah! :o

If they'd just kill Fred, I'd be a very happy man...[frkoff]
