Thanks again! I wonder whose idea it was to use this makeup on vampire Roxanne. She certainly didn't appear that way in 1970. Nor do I recall Megan or Angelique looking quite so skeletal. Even Barnabas used to get by with some kohl eyeliner.

The most bizarre thing about that blue look is that Roxanne doesn't even look that way on the night she rises and attacks Julia!!

From "#1142/1143: Robservations 10/27/03: Julia in Jeopardy--Bigtime!"

Julia enters Roxanne's crypt and opens her coffin.  Roxanne is gone, however.

Hearing a sound behind her, Julia turns and sees Roxanne standing there, arms raised, fangs bared, homing in to attack her.

Maybe something about Julia's blood didn't agree with her!!  [lghy]

Interesting, to say the least. Was Vinnie Loscalzo still doing the makeup then?

([pointing-up]  No. Dennis Eger is credited for Ep #1149. But the interesting thing is while there's no makeup credit for Ep#1143, a few eps earlier Bert Roth is credited for makeup. So it may be quite possible that Roth did Ep #1143 and that's why there a discrepancy between Roxanne's makeup for Ep #1143 and Ep #1149.)

Since I had never heard of Bert Roth, I decided to do a little digging. His imdb listing is pretty sparse. It only lists DS. But it seems that he was a major player. He did makeup for James Cagney, Judy Garland, Boris Karloff and Richard Nixon. He did the makeup for 20/20 and Good Morning New York. He even had his own school, The Bert Roth School of Theatrical Makeup.

And, most impressive of all, he was The Director of Makeup at ABC. Who knew there was such a title?

I couldn't find an obituary, so he might still be with us.

How odd that nothing about this gentleman appears in any of the DS chronicles published so far.

Someone didn't do their research properly, I guess. Yes, the trail is quite cold at this point but if you and I can find these things in a Google search, it can't be all that difficult. [easter_huh]
