Title: OT Knives Out (2019)
Post by: Gothick on November 14, 2019, 07:28:53 PM
Something about this trailer made me think of DS, particularly some of the "dysfunctional family melodrama" storylines from 1966, 1897 and PT 1970:

Marvelous cast, too.

I had the same thoughts when I saw the trailer. Hopefully the movie will be as good as the trailer...
Title: Knives Out: Semi Off Topic

The current film Knives Out is an absolutely first rate murder mystery. It's on a par with Sleuth and The Last of Sheila and I highly recommend it. The film does have a DS connection. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a brief cameo. You won't see him on screen. It's strictly an audio cameo. Pay close attention to an early scene where Marta, the heroine, is at home with her mother and sister. Her sister is watching some kind of police procedural. It's apparently rather graphic and the voice of an officer can be heard. That's Joseph. It's just a few lines but he is definitely there.

I just saw Knives Out this afternoon and agree with you Unc ...wow it was great. Probably the best who done it I ever remember seeing - liked it even more than Sleuth, Orient Express or even Murder by Death. I'd be very surprised if it isn't nominated for best picture. Daniel Craig was wonderful... even better than Bond. Hope he gets nominated also. And thank you for bookmarking JGL voiceover for me. I probably would have missed it otherwise.

I liked the trailer better than the movie and the house better than Daniel Craig, lol. But I enjoyed it very much and have no regrets having seen it or paying the money to do so.

'Knives Out' revives murder mysteries with exciting twists (https://northernstar.info/entertainment/knives-out-revives-murder-mysteries-with-exciting-twists/article_c2c45a74-178d-11ea-b140-0fff669c85c7.html)

Not exactly a reference to our DS, but our DS did get its name because someone joked that they were going off to film some dark shadows.

"The lighting utilizes dark shadows, taking influence from film noir, creating a more mysterious feeling."

Apparently this is not the first time that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has had an audio cameo in one of the director's films. There is a similar appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Joseph voiced a character named Slowen Lo, who is upset that the characters Rose and Finn illegally landed on a beach.

I'm sure that there will be future cameos.
