Back to the Jason plot. I really feel sorry for Elizabeth, gritting her teeth and taking the necessary steps towards the ghastly marriage, with Jason nipping at her heels. He might be a little injudicious there; she has authorized the divorce proceedings, and that's a major step, and he knows that if he pushes her too hard and too fast, she'll dig in her heels. She didn't carry through on turning herself in last week, but she came awfully close. On the one hand, I think to myself, "Jason's an experienced scoundrel. He knows when and how hard to push." On the other hand, I think, "If he's so good at it, how come he isn't rich already?"
I wasn't impressed with Roger, rushing off to tell Vicky and Carolyn that Elizabeth might well be planning to marry Jason, without giving Liz a little time to make the announcement herself. Sort of graceless of him. And here's Carolyn, gung-ho to find out the real story, without thinking, "You know, I might have gotten a clue if I had sat and listened the other day." But that's beating a dead horse. Meanwhile, Carolyn is assuming that Jason has a hold over her mother. I wonder if Carolyn has given any concrete thought to what the hold actually is. Clearly it doesn't occur to her that her mother might have murdered her father - or else she is banishing that thought from her mind. What other hold might Jason have over Liz? Was Liz involved in a hit-and-run accident that Jason covered up? (This is real life. Lightning is allowed to strike twice.) Does Jason know some disgustingly dirty details about Vicky's parentage? Did Jason forge Jamison's will so that Liz got more money out of dear old Dad than Dad had intended? And if any of these speculations are correct, does Carolyn want to know about it any more than she wants to know the truth about her father?
There was were a couple of mentions of Maggie today. Very thoughtful of the writers.
