Quentin to Amy:  "Daniel is coming home. His Uncle Roger should be here with him any minute."
So Liz is Cousin Elizabeth, but her brother is his Uncle Roger.  It's no wonder that PT family relationships are confusing.

Quentin overhears a mention of a living Barnabas.  Hmm.

I'm afraid I just don't understand.  There is absolutely nothing attractive about John Yaeger, and Elizabeth Eis doesn't persuade me that there is any possible connection between Yaeger and Buffie.

It's unfortunate that Yaeger came across as clownish.  However, Eis managed to make Buffie's desperation and dismay feel real to me, but I think in order for viewers to sense that connection between them, both characters needed to be believable, and sadly that just wasn't the case.

I absolutely love the music after Cyrus changes.

The piece is called "Watch Out," lol.  Seriously, that's its name.

Thanks, jimbo.

The interview and article are by Forum member Rod Labbe.  He said the issue should go on sale in early August.

Ange to Alexis:  "You were always the innocent one, so content with life as it was."
Ange to Alexis' body:  "You always were the considerate one."
Yeah, yeah, we get it.  Angelique is evil, Alexis is good.  No need to hammer it home.

A to A again:  "You will take my place in the coffin. And I will take yours at Collinwood."
Fabulous stuff!!!

Cyrus to Chris:  "John Yaeger is an acquaintance of mine I met recently and he's going to help me in my new experiment."
Yaeger is an old friend, he's a new friend, he's just a test subject.  He can't seem to keep the story straight.

Quentin:  "We'll take the coffin outside and put a torch to it. ... Cyrus, we don't have any other choice. I can hardly go to the proper officials and say that my wife has been dead for over 6 months but the body has yet to be decomposed."
Um, couldn't they just seal the body back inside the tomb and tell no one?  I mean, how is it sneakier to burn a huge coffin in the open at nighttime?  And stop calling her your wife, Quentin; but then again, if Quentin put more thought into the things he says, his current wife probably wouldn't have left.
And how about what Nicholas told Megan during the Leviathans storyline?:  "Burning a corpse merely disposes of a body; the spirit of that body cannot be burned."  The same writer who gave us that line (Gordon Russell), btw, also wrote this episode.

Quentin, after taking one last look at the body:  "It's unbelievable. She was as beautiful as she was. Still is."
LOL

DarkShadowsOnline.com has this to say about Don Briscoe:
Quote
In his final episode, which aired in early 1970, he was clearly unwell.
Except for the fact that he only had 1 scene, I don't see signs of unwellness.  What am I supposed to be looking for?

Was Dameon really trying to warn Quentin here about Angelique?  Had his ghost not haunted the house at all, I can't imagine that Quentin would have wanted to open his wife's tomb, so it would seem that Dameon paved the way for Angelique's return.  No?

Ang/Alexis switch.   We zoom past what would have been a very awkward scene, Ang stripping self and Alexis, Ang inching the clothes onto Alexis bit by bit, cursing, then lifting and dumping her sister into the coffin, missing a time or two, maybe a limb is pinned under the body or flopping out strangely at first.  All the while Trask hears twenty minutes of grunts and curses and impacts on the ground, wondering whether to help, then deciding not to and never ever saying why... now that's comedy.
[lghy]

The manner of her death was horrible from start to finish - being psychically called from Italy to die painfully for her evil twin
Alexis didn't come to to Collinwood on her own??

then I guess she's just dead (except maybe she wasn't quite dead yet...).
I'm sure that Alexis is dead when we see her in the coffin.  I think the reason Angelique pushed to have it burned as soon as possible was that it would decompose normally, and that would definitely arouse the suspicions of Quentin and Cyrus.

Amy to Quentin:  "I don't want to go back to the Willis House."
A rare Denise Nickerson blooper

Was that Jenny's gravestone by the door to the mausoleum?
Yes it was.

I wonder how much of it was Nickerson, shaking herself.
I wondered that too (leave it to the 2 nurses to comment on it), and hope that at the very least she was making her own head snap back and forth.  But even if she was, I doubt an actor could shake a child like that today.

Amber Brie was the stand-in creating the illusion that Alexis and Angelique were occasionally on screen together.  And Lara Parker scored 2 separate credits at the end.

Quentin to Alexis (about Bruno):  "I'm going to get rid of that many forever!" ...
Go, Quentin!  So are you planning to murder him?  Have him hauled off to jail?  Or run out of town on a rail?
... "I'm going to call my lawyer. This will all be handled very correctly."
Oh.  How disappointing.

The first time I watched this, I did not guess what Quentin and Alexis were reacting to once they peeked into Angelique's coffin.  What I came up with wasn't even close.

Yaeger tells Quentin that he and Cyrus have known each other a very short time, but since he seems to possess Cyrus' memories, you'd think Yaeger would know that Cyrus told a different story to Sabrina not long ago-- that the two men were old friends-- and it's not out of the realm of possibility that Quentin and Sabrina could compare notes on what they've been told.

Despite the ugly yellow shirt and striped tie, I really like Quentin in the dark blue sports jacket.

After he phoned Jennifer from Collinwood, the number on the dial reads Collinsport 4099, which is the same number we saw on the phone in Cyrus' lab.

Nitpicky much, Midnite?

Alexis lets out a loud scream, and does it again in the following ep, so that makes 8 eps in a row (by airdate) with a female character screaming for one reason or another, and WTH is up with that??!

In Bruno's bedroom at Cyrus' house, a CD Tate landscape hangs above the fireplace (in RT, the same painting was identified as a Tate by Stokes but was a 60s work by Harrison Monroe).  So do we assume it's a Tate in PT too, and if so, who was his PT "Amanda" that caused him to stop painting portraits?

Great comments, all!

Calendar Events / Announcements '10 II / Maureen Dowd talks vampires
« on: July 07, 2010, 02:23:41 AM »
This past weekend, NY Times Op-Ed Columnist Maureen Dowd called for letting your [fanged] freak flag fly on Independence Day.  From My Deathless Passion:

"It wasn’t until I was in high school that fangs started to seem alluring — with the arrival of the campy daytime soap 'Dark Shadows,' set in Maine and featuring the vampire Barnabas Collins. (Johnny Depp and Tim Burton have discussed an adaptation.)"
