Along with that, I was also wondering what Barnabas was thinking??  Apparently, he knows now that theres a vampire hidden somewhere at the Blair house and from how he spoke to Joe there, telling him " he knows how he feels and understands what he's going through," and also had the good sense to get Joe out of there fast, well then why on earth did he dump him on Maggie alone? If he knew all of that he should have very well known how hard it was to resist a vampire. He should have just taken Joe to the old house and locked him up in the basement cell for the night. :)

No kidding! I was thinking the exact same thing. And if not that, then stake yourself (sorry Barn) outside Maggie's' cottage and wait to see who comes-a-callin', or follow Joe when he leaves the cottage.

I guess now that he is human again the ol' Barnster can be as stupid as the rest of us mere mortals.

Current Talk '02 II / Ange & Nick Today - 7/23
« on: July 24, 2002, 09:24:53 AM »
I enjoyed today's scenes featuring Angelique and Nicholas. I loved it when Angelique taunted Nicholas about Joe's love for Maggie being stronger than all the vampiric summoning she was able to muster. That smug look on her face was priceless. And I (as corny as it sounds) appreciated Angie's glimmer of decency at her reluctance to destroy Joe.

Do you suppose Lara Parker had the lighting director fired after today's 2nd episode? Sistah looked down-right horrible (as opposed to evil) after Angelique emerged from her coffin. Very bad lighting IMO. (Check it out in today's montage.) I'll assume that the camera man didn't fare any better after she got a look at her close-up. 'Twas not flattering at all. You could practically see into her pores! The scene should have been shot  through gauze to soften the impact. No one should be shot that close.

Has there ever been a DS character more despicable than Nicholas Blair? I can barely stand to watch him! He hasn't a redeemable bone in his body. Simply delicious!

I did find Nicholas's appearance at Maggie's doorstep in the wee hours of the morning totally unbelievable today. I mean that literally. Bad writing in my opinion. After all, his cover is his gentlemanliness. It just didn't make any sense at all to me. I hope they have Maggie tell him off in the next episode. I know I am over-reacting but really! Anything would have been more believable, even a phone call. If this doesn't make Maggie suspicious of him I will sca-ream! [scrm]

Current Talk '02 II / Reversed Credits - 7/23
« on: July 24, 2002, 08:08:14 AM »
I noticed that today when the credits rolled, they started with the production crew and then moved on to the actors. I don't ever recall seeing this happen before.

Before I start blaming JP for this, can anyone tell me if this was a credits blooper? It was very odd.

Just wondering,
Dom

PS - I think it was episode two.

Current Talk '02 II / Maggie Today - 7/23
« on: July 24, 2002, 08:02:45 AM »
Now I know that your shoes should match your handbag (or belt if you're a guy) but today was the first time I've ever seen a woman (Maggie) who's shoes matched her Sheets!

More on Maggie:

After all she's been through, you'd think she'd have some sort of clue of what was up with Joe. Especially when those dogs started howling. I guess when Julia wipes a memory clean she doesn't fool around!

REM? Was Maggie sleepwalking or was Joe just so handsome all over that she couldn't fix her eyes on one particular part of his face? I mean that girl's eyes were moving back and forth at the speed of a Chinese ping pong ball!

Did anyone really think petite little Maggie was going to be able to stop big bad beautiful boy Joe from leaving the cottage at any given time (no less at the summoning of a vampire)? I kept wondering what Maggie would choose to knock him over the head with? My eyes kept gravitating towards that double balled lamp behind the sofa.

Did anyone else sca-ream when Joe threw Maggie To The floor? I HAD to! *Tuffie, darling, I would have given my eye teeth to have been watching that with you today. After all, two shrieks are better than one! I would have been throwing myself to the floor all day long! LOL.*

KLS was certainly a striking young woman, no? She was radiant in today's first episode. She did have a bit of a hair problem though in today's second episode. I'm not sure if it was the frizzies (do they still call it that?) or if she picked up some static cling somewhere along the way. It was very noticeable and actually somewhat distracting.

I must admit that I adore the Maggie Evans character. And I have from day one. I love her politeness, and her love for her father endeared me to her right away. I guess the writers deserve a lot of credit for that but I do think KLS's delivery really makes it all so very believable. I really dig the caring/nurturing side of the character. And at the same time, her straight-forwardness when she is "on a mission". Girlfriend can hold her own when she has to.

Poor Joe...he looks like a crackhead.

Especially from the jaw-line down. He had what my step-mom used to call a powder-line that was visible from fifty paces!

Current Talk '02 II / Today's Julia-7/23
« on: July 24, 2002, 04:18:14 AM »
Julia looked great today. Make up and hair were quite becoming. Though I can't imagine the character being vain enough to put that much work into herself. Julia doesn't strike me as the heavy mascara and eye-shadow type. I think of her more as a "take me as I am" type.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of Grayson's scenes today; my favorite being the exchange with Barnabas at the Old House concerning spying on Nicholas by invading his house by the sea. The body language was fabulous as they both seemed to get a kick out of the whole thing with their half-smiles. It was so real, I loved it.

Okay, what's with the gloves? Driving gloves? A fashion statement? It's not winter in Collinsport, is it?  Perhaps gloves were just "in" then, as hats were for men before the Kennedy years. Just wondering.

Current Talk '02 II / Sex In The Shadows? 7/23

Was mine the only mind that headed sta-raight toward the gutter upon seeing the expressions on Joe and (mostly) Maggie's face while they were sitting on the sofa? :O Of course, I know that nothing, "happened", but...Oh my goodness! [shkdy] [blshy]

I believe it was after Joe arrived at Maggie's door from Nicholas's house by the sea. The scene may have been intended as a re-entry after a commercial break. Whether or not a commercial aired today before the scene, I do not remember. I know that it was a "new" scene and not part of a continual scene. This helped give the illusion that something we didn't see happened between scenes. Anyway...the only thing missing was a lit cigarette! [smokn] [lghy]

And while my mind is in the gutter, I have to confess: I would have "pounced" on Joe while he was out from those sleeping pills!  After all, being engaged does have it's privileges... [evilg]

Regarding the blue candles:

I was thinking that maybe they chose the color blue because it showed up better in B&W. Like maybe white candles created too much glare or something like that. And that they had ten thousand of them and just stuck with them when they went to color.

Speaking of blue candles, there's a store here and they sell blue candles.  So, I bought 100 of them, they're 5 cents a piece.  Just thought I'd add this in.

Terry, you don't happen to have a lab and coffin in your cellar, do you?  :)

Thanks, this is the first time I've ever been able to download anything and have it work the first time. Unbelievable! Me way happy. ;D

Current Talk '02 II / Just Wondering...
« on: July 23, 2002, 01:33:50 AM »
If Barn went through all the trouble to have one of the Old House's (many) silver candelabrum smelted into silver bullets to kill Tom, then why on earth did he bring a stake and mallet to finish Tom off in the crypt? He could have killed Tom where he stood and have saved Willie a trip to the dry cleaners.

If Julia was out like a light when Barn carried her into the Old House, why was her head not bobbing about like a buoy caught in the tide? Perhaps it was those rotating bite marks that kept her neck stiff as a board?

Why on earth doesn't Barn have that front room chair cushion re-filled? He's just letting the old house go to pot! Perhaps it is filled with 100% down? Yes, that's got to be it! He should look into Mrs. Johnson working for him part-time to fluff up the cushions.

Has David been giving Liz lessons in hiding from Roger? That scene had me smiling from ear to ear.

Am I the only one who tries to guess the climatic music cues to come? I didn't guess a single one correctly today!

What brand of blush does the old Barnster use?

What on earth was Tom doing to the Barnster moments before he  tried to put the bite on him? 'Twas very interesting, no? Tommy obviously "gets off" on this biting thang. Woof, woof.

Since when has "Woman alone, hurrying home" become an acronym for Prostitute? Barny picks the strangest moments to be a gentleman, and with Willie no less?

Why are most of the candles in the Old House blue? I have never in my life seen a blue candle. They don't seem to go with the decor. I'm serious about this. Is there a particular significance for using this color?

Was Liz wearing that blue velvet dress at Wyndcliffe?

Just wondering...

Current Talk '02 II / Today's (Monday 7/22) Flubs
« on: July 22, 2002, 11:29:28 PM »
There were some great bloopers today.

They wasted absolutely no time messing up in today's first ep, showing a still of the risen moon just a bit too long in the video as we heard (but did not see) Julia moving about in the audio.

Liz started to refer to Julia as Dr. Kauffman (sp?). I was hoping that Barnabas was going to refer to Jennings final resting place as a kauffman in his response, instead of coffin. That would have been hysterical. It's the first thing that came to my mind as he said, coffin.

For some reason, Tom's bite marks have the ability to relocate themselves on his victim's neck. Unless I am totally wrong (which is very possible) Julia's bite marks were located on the right side of her neck, but when she removed her scarf to check them out, she checked the left side. Come to think of it, though, I think Tom did bite her on the left side today. I am not sure anymore. I do know that the bites marks were on the right side when she was carried into Collinwood Friday and the marks were found by Blair. If I am totally cornfused, somebody please clear this up for me.

Frid flubbed a line as well, "It can't happen." I wasn't able to figure out what the heck he was talking about. (I guess I need help with this one too.)

Hi Adra,

I agree, Pet Clark (now that you mention it) would remind me of Laura Collins. I heard, but did not see the commercial today. I am picturing Pet's (USA release) DOWNTOWN LP cover and it is very reminiscent of Laura (even down to the mole - I think they both sported moles!?!).

Current Talk '02 II / Re: To COLORIZE or Not to COLORIZE?
« on: July 22, 2002, 10:46:04 PM »
Hi Spencer! Your first post? Welcome.

To colorize or not to colorize? I vote yes, because I'd like to see them colorized for the sake of novelty. But in the end, I would opt for the original B&W eps to remain so, as far as for my own personal viewing pleasure. I enjoyed the show so much more in it's black and white days. In my opinion, B&W enhances the Gothic mood of the show.

I would very much like to see the kinescopes digitally restored to better enhance the viewing quality of the episodes (be they color or black and white).
