Art in Dark Shadows

I’ve noticed that art is a significant part of Dark Shadows.

Do you think that was expensive for the show?

Why do you think it’s so prominent?

I have a few guesses, but I’m sure other people here have more insight.

Painting probably are used in to show a connection to the past and as an easier visual for the audience.
With a show usually (or always?) shot live to tape it’s easier than putting insert shots in too.
But those are just my guesses.  I look forward to reading other thoughts and information.

Since it’s close to the same observation  . . . I’ve noticed that music that isn’t just background music is a big part of the show too.

Josette‘s music box

Quentin‘s theme

Angelique‘s theme (from parallel time)

I don’t think that Kinda thing is very typical in fiction either.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the movie Eddy and The Cruisers.
Oh and the movie That Thing You Do! about the fictional band the Oneders.
