Barnabas had a mysterious, dangerous spark that ignited deep, dark and forbidden things in me. I very much doubt Quentin could ever have done the same.
And speaking of ads....has anyone ever seen any kind of ad for DS on the Sci Fi channel at some other time of the day? We certainly see enough ads for other shows during DS, but never the other way around.....at least I never have!
But I found it amusing that some actors may have been doing some of the same things my friends and I were doing back then at each others' houses.
And eerie things did occasionally occur, but even then we didn't believe the devil was responsible for them, and now I just feel it's absurd to even consider it.
I'll let you hear for yourselves what he claims some of the actors on the show were into...

Nowadays, I find a lot of the stories in those later years gratuitous - they simply don't need that much going on ... by 1970 the show needed less story but more reaction - I don't think it could cope with that much drama, but badly could have used some resonance amongst the community of characters. ... I just wish they could have slowed down more.
Well, excuse the hell out of me for failing to recognize and sign on to the prevailing wisdom. I never accepted the premise, and never forgave a damned thing.
I detested, loathed and despised the character of Barnabas Collins the entire time I watched what I saw of the first run, and I never gave up anticipating the day when he would pay for his transgressions. Did I know deep down that the chances of that happening were virtually nil? Yes. But hope springs eternal.
I never saw all the other characters as mere supporting players to The Star.
But in one of the more idiotic plot twists, Nicky waves his magic wand and suddenly Maggie's inviting Barnabas over for coffee and etchings instead.
I'm not saying that a lacklustre character should be matched with an equally lacklustre performance, but I don't blame Lisa Richards for just turning up, saying the lines and leaving it at that...
