Hey everyone! I joined the board a couple days ago and just thought I'd introduce myself.
I've been watching DS for about 10 years but I haven't seen all of the episodes yet. I discovered it on Sci-Fi Channel and, for the longest time, I could only watch the show during summer break from school. Then, once I finally had enough power over the TV to start taping it every morning...well, a few months later, Sci-Fi stopped showing it (just my luck). Couldn't afford to buy the series, so I'd been living off my copy of HODS until a few weeks ago when I found that one of the libraries around here has the DVDs. I just started set 2, so I've got a lot of catching up to do. But I have a month long vacation from school starting here in a couple weeks, and let's just say my plans for those days off include quite a bit of time in front of the television...
Anyway, like I said, just thought I'd introduce myself. I don't know how much I'll be posting at first but I hope to get involved. Seems like a great board!

Welcome to the Forum! You'll not find a more courteous, fun and imaginative group of people elsewhere. [santa_thumb]

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
And congrats on finding the DVDs at your local library. [santa_thumb]
I was pretty surprised to find that several of the libraries in the area seem to be collecting the entire series as it's being released. But a big NON-CONGRATS library worker who checked my stuff out for me last time I was there. Her reaction to seeing the DS DVDs: "Wow, that show was awful." She apparently didn't watch the same show that we do. [90d4]

Welcome, MrsMcGuire! I hope to see lots of posts from you!

Welcome Mrs M
shame on that librarian, she should respect your desire to watch and enjoy the show.
DS isn't perfect, but it has stretches of brilliance and was certainly years ahead of it's tme.
And Barnabas Collins is offically the second most famous vampire in fiction, right after Count Dracula!
You should check Amazon, they might have used DVDs within your budget!
And DVDPlanet.com sells new discs at 1/3 less than the regular price.

And what is your libritians name again? [santa_evil]
As it happened, she wasn't wearing her name tag....how convenient for her. [santa_wink]
Thanks once again for the welcome, everyone. And thank you, David, for the tips on where to find the DVDs. I've been looking into buying them for myself and will be sure to check out those sites.

Welcome to the board, MrsMcGuire! Nice to have another DS fan on here. [santa_smiley]

Welcome to the Forum, MrsMcGuire! So glad you've joined us. [santa_smiley]
(And BTW, your, uh, husband is one of my favorite DS characters.)

Hi Mrs. McGuire and welcome to the forum.. It's great to meet you...
My husband is Quentin Collins ( I wish)! [santa_tongue]
Love Anne [santa_kiss]

Welcome, Mrs McGuire! That's fabulous that the local library is collecting Dark Shadows.
Another good site for finding the DVDs cheap is DeepDiscountDVD. They sometimes run sales where you can purchase a set for around $33 which is pretty amazing. Thanks to them I've actually been able to buy several sets of the show.

Nabbed Jason on the rebound, did you?! Hi!
[spoiler]Rebound from being DEAD, MT?[/spoiler] [diablo] [laughing_devil] (Sorry, couldn't resist)
And welcome, Mrs. McGuire. You'll love it here -- this is where the FUN conversations are!

[spoiler]Rebound from being DEAD, MT?[/spoiler] [diablo] [laughing_devil] (Sorry, couldn't resist)
Hey, anything's possible on DS. [santa_wink]
Thanks again to everybody for the welcome!

[spoiler]Rebound from being DEAD, MT?[/spoiler] [diablo] [laughing_devil] (Sorry, couldn't resist)
Why, yes, that's precisely what I meant, Pansity. Same old story-- [spoiler]scam artist rejected by wealthy recluse blackmail object, gets strangled by a vampire, dies, then enters too hastily into another relationship.[/spoiler] Well, I'm not so sure about that last part, but as Mrs. McGuire has apparently found out from personal experience, anything's possible on DS.
So Mrs. M... how's that old scoundrel, that old so-and-so Jason, working out? Behaving himself? He's a handful, ain't he?
Welcome!

Sorry, cuz I know you're all having fun, but the ongoing joke has become role play.
2. Role playing (putting oneself or another poster into the DS story) is discouraged, and repeated efforts to role play may result in removal of these posts from the board. This does not, however, refer to DS-related usernames or signatures.

I've got a pleasing picture in my mind of Barnabas and Willie playing dodgeball or squash in the secret room of the mausoleum using Jason McGuire as the ball.
