Waiting Forever for Barnabas
« on: November 27, 2008, 07:47:42 AM »
Slate Magazine had a Twilight-angled summary of Dark Shadows:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/xxfactor/archive/2008/11/24/waiting-for-barnabas.aspx

It's amazing how many inaccuracies can be crammed into one paragraph.

Sadly, Lydia, there's probably more inaccurate stuff about DS posted on the Internet and in print than there is accurate stuff.  [hall2_sad]  But so long as it not derogatory, whether it's accurate or foolishness (like much of that article is [hall2_rolleyes]), it's still great to keep DS in the public consciousness.  [hall2_wink]

Perhaps it's one of those cases of a faulty memory, if it's been a while since the show has been seen?

Thanks for the welcome. :)

I've been on one of the DS yahoo groups for a little while and thought I should branch out... I've spent a lot of time reading this forum, so it's about time I stopped lurking (helps that the DS watching project actually caught up to where I have DVDs!) :D

Wow.  That was a perfect case of someone (let us be kind) mis-remembering virtually every detail of story and character.

Welcome, Khantael!  I hope you'll join the Watching Project.

As for Dark Shadows Faulty Memory Syndrome, I think this would be a special case:  Willful DSFMS, because the inaccuracies tend to support or to adorn the point that the writer is trying to make.

Welcome Khantael!  I've never heard of the DS faulty memory syndrome but when ever my memory about DS gets a little fuzzy I just  watch certain shows  and try to get it straight before I comment so I don't seem as to suffer from it!!  Yes that article was full on inaccuracie [santa_smiley] s.... Victoria Winters a doppleganger??  Josette in one dress??? White at that?  Please.  Oh well it did give me laugh as the author is beyond DSFMS..I guess she has terminal DSFMS.      [santa_smiley]     [santa_rolleyes]
Long live the vampire and his love (Barnabas and Maggie)

Not a special case in the world at large, though.  That kind of faulty memory syndrome is the status quo amongst most people in this world.

Me, I know I'm misremembering DS, but it still throws me.   I still want to see those fondly-remembered episodes where Petofi reappeared in 60s/70s Collinsport.   I still want to see Julia cure Barnabas, not old Thunder Lungs Lang.
