Thank you.  :)  And I've just been notified that, thanks to an opportune swipe at the Uniform Pants floatie, an entire Naval brigade might be servicing my every whim, woo!!

Patti, you could try googling Ides of March, "Ides of March", or define: Ides of March.

Quote
Could we make a loose DS connection?
I assume the Ides of March was recognized on the 1969 DS Calendar because the date has a sense of doom or foreboding associated with it (a feeling not unfamiliar to the residents of Collinwood) thanks to Shakespeare's famous line.

I love it, ClaudeNorth!

When Eve
time tripped to 1795 with help from Angelique, she got a very chilly reception in the jail cell from Peter Bradford, who was to be hanged for murder that same night.
She told Peter, "I can give you your freedom, if you go away with me."

Now that is absurd logic.  And yet, obsessive love is so commonplace on DS that we accept it without blinking an eye.  ::)

Note to MB or Midnite: How do I eliminate those obnoxious lines that seem to permeate every picture I upload?

This disccussion has been moved to the Testing 1, 2, 3, board.  See:

Love the new graphic Midnite, it's too cool!

Thanks!  :D

My son ragged on what he called the worst fade-in he'd ever seen.  I can't get him to understand that in 1969 it was an awesome sight.  ::)

Regarding the digital photos of your screen, try standing farther away-- even farther if it's a large screen-- then cropping everything but the image.

I had that number of choices before I added some names I thought of later. I wanted to increase the number of choices one could choose but the system had problems. Sorry about that.

I just tested the feature and it was working fine.  :)  What may have confused you is that you cannot opt to change the number of maximum votes per user once a poll has been posted.  If you think you're going to gauge it according to the number of poll options, I can only suggest that you use the Preview feature to study the total number of options in your poll before submitting it.

Okay, I'm a real TECHNOPHOBE, LOL!  I have all available DVD's, can you tell me how to do this so I can get away from the archaic "taking pics off da TV"?

LOL, gotcha.  You'd need a screen capture software program for your specific system.  If it makes a capture of your screen, you would save it for editing out what you don't want, or to skip that step you can set it to capture one window.  Some graphics programs have a dedicated screen capture utility, and there are some stand alone programs that you can download (free or shareware) or purchase.

::BuzzH runs away screaming::  ;)

These programs capture DVDs, but I make my DS captures, avatars, etc. from videotapes so as to not step on MPI's toes (if MPI had toes), and I'm pretty sure MB does too.

Do we have any idea who the actress is in the shot of Millicent with Josette's fan in today's slideshow?  From the costume it looks as if the character is meant to be a maid.

The actress is Charlotte Fairchild.  She had been Angela Lansbury's understudy when Mame first opened on Broadway.

to be honest, it really WAS sorta public, in the sense that we literally had about 50 ppl in the room (don't ask, LOL!).

LOL

Well, I think it's difficult to know without asking if an actor has an expectation of privacy when they're outside of the official area during a public appearance.   If the same actor is on stage or in an autograph line there's no doubt, unlike a crowded bar, restaurant, lobby, or party ( ;)) .

BTW, I used the word 'slander' because that's what was the word used in the forum guideline snippet.  ;)

I totally understand.  We probably should consider changing it to "defaming," which applies to both.  :)

I didn't accuse anyone of slander, and I didn't remove a thing.  I said it was becoming a discussion about private behavior, and the point of bringing up the guideline was to remind posters that discussions should be about the public behavior of the actors, i.e. on stage, at the Fest banquet, etc.  Slander (though it would be libel, but I digress ;)) isn't the issue, and you're right that the example you gave would be subject to removal.  I'm sorry you got the impression your comments had been judged as slanderous (libelous, whatever).  The Forum policy is that what happens in private stays in private.  :)
