LOL, I just bet Mrs. Johnson was tougher than her. My money would be on her!  8)

You wouldn't be saying that just 'cause she's Harry's mom, would you now...? ;)

The best solution is the Hoffman way: give them a sedative!  ;D

It's a proven fact...

Julia knows best! ::) ;)

Not only the speech, but the ceremony itself was reminiscent of DS, complete with bloopers: Spider-Man filled the role of the scene-stealing stagehand, and our school principal twice trumped up the year of our class.

Hey, at least the Mayor didn't turn into a giant snake and do the ascension thing.

Or did he...? :)

Fantastic photos, Tom...thanks for sharing.

By any chance, while you were there did you an opportunity to participate in a seance...? ;)

The thing that bugged me about Professor Stokes' dwelling (be it house or apartment) is that the front door was all wiggy, since it opened to the outside... ?!?

I think it was fairly standard for soaps to do the one-take thing.  Soaps weren't thought of then as they are now and didn't get the respect they should have from the networks.  After all, in its time, Dark Shadows was thought of as little more than a kids' show. :P

The videotape process was also still very new and fairly expensive at the time as well.

And even during this time, soaps like Edge of Night (where Joel Crothers ended his career) were still done live most days, barring preemptions--which led to some major flubs; the biggest I remember from that show was an actor's toupee coming off during a fight scene! :o

...the credits in most cases are in the order of when the actor was hired onto the show...Joan Bennett was there from day 1 and given top billing, so even when Jonathan Frid became the real star, her name still appeared before his...because she had been there first.

Actually, Joan Bennett got top billing because she was the most well known actor on the show at its inception--having been in movies as far back as 1915. :o

While Frid certainly became the star of the show, Joan Bennett was, at one time, a full fledged movie star.

Scout75, I will have to examine whether or not I think Clarice Blackburn and Craig Slocum look like Mother and son.

Craig_Slocum:

Check out those side-by-side pix in the montage!

Yikes!  You know...in a good way. :)

Enjoyed the stunned-to-the-max expressions on Barn's and Jul's faces at the arrival of Cassandra's brother.

Especially Julia's--which looks like she's doing a really difficult math problem in her head... :P

Patti:

I don't pretend to be an expert all things DS, but Frid was 43 when he started on the series in the Spring of '67.

Moltke? Well, maybe she had a good agent. Actually, Joan Bennett is the "star" of the series and Moltke was what would be called the lead ingenue, I suppose--that could explain it. Or it might because she was so much of the focus in the first year.

Whatever the explanation--without consulting a schedule, I'd say Moltke's last appearance will be sometime in early August...

Actually, despite becoming a documentary filmmaker after her time on the show, Moltke would be much more famous (or infamous) when Claus von Bulow was on trial in the early 80s.

But that, my dear, is a whole 'nother story... :)

Hope this helps...

Personally, I think Willie looks pretty good in the montage.  And Professor Stokes has a nice older Brando vibe goin' on... 8)

Also: Clarice Blackburn & Craig Slocum really do--to an alarming degree--look like mother & son!

The Buffy musical ep, "Once More With Feeling" will re-air on UPN on Tuesday, July 2 at 8/7c...

BTW: in July, Buffy will air twice a week: first, in its usual Tuesday night slot, then another episode will air Wednesdays at 9/8c.

Here to help...

You're so right, Josette!

Isn't it a shame when your memory starts to give on things you saw just 48 hours ago? :-[

Anyway: can't wait 'til Monday--well, at least cuz of DS.

I've been lovin' that Sci-Fi hasn't pre-empted DS for their goofy marathons this month...

Yes Cheryl!!  I thought of you right away when I saw Craig's picture up there. :)

Same here.

I think it's nice that you love and remember Craig Slocum.  :)
