Current Talk '02 I / Re: Who Is Nicholas Blair?

Some interesting speculation on the relationship between Nicholas and Angelique.  I feel that the main connection is that they both serve Diablos, and probably have known each other for centuries.  Of course, Nicholas is much more powerful than Angelique, and he enjoys never letting her forget that fact!

Loved how he called the Dream Curse "idiotic" [thumb] and chided Cassandra for her constant failure.

So is Nicholas, like, her supervisor?

Current Talk '02 I / David Collins: Latch-Key Kid Of Evil
« on: June 27, 2002, 08:59:44 PM »
The last couple of days have shown us why David was always in some kind of mischievous and/or trouble: nobody paid attention to this kid!

Carolyn blew him off, as did Willie, stepmom Cassandra (intially anyway--'til she found out what was on the tape!) & Roger (offscreen).

Poor kid.

No wonder he was always doing brake jobs or getting himself possessed by spirits!

When Cassandra questions , she tells him to go back to Collinwood; trouble is that they're standing in front of Collinwood!

I admired how Stokes admitted to Carolyn that he hadn't a clue as to how to help Adam or how to proceed in any way at that point.

And he was quite the gent with Julia, considering how frustrating her "help-me-then-go-away" attitude had to be to him.

Stokes' concern for Adam is touching and shows just what kind of man he truly is...

I adore Julia, but sometimes I think she got her medical degree from an ad in the back of a comic book.

JULIA: "Well, I wanted sea monkeys...but being a doctor could be fun. I could pass out sedatives like they're Pez!"

When I was a little kid watching the show, I combed my hair like Barnabas.  :-[

After 200 years of making this same mistake with her, you'd think he'd learn by now to use more caution! ;)

Barnabas does seem to make the same mistakes over and over and over again...even though he knows the family history, he is doomed to repeat it!

But I'm sure that after 200 years, it's fun to spook Cassangelique and go "Nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyaaaah-nyaaaah..."  :P

(Willie) was bad, but you're willing to think it wasn't all his fault.  And, when he's down you want to help him out.  I think his unrequited love for Maggie is every bit as touching as Julia's for Barnabas.  :'(

Very much so.

Even in those scenes in the Old House, before Julia & Willie decide to bury Barnabas the way you would a beloved family pet, his emotion and tears felt so real. I think he was a lost soul--crying for himself as much as for Barnabas...

As far as Joe goes (the actual subject of this thread ;D), I think he didn't try to be so much controlling of Maggie, as he just didn't understand the gothic weirdness that was going on around him...that is, until Adam kicked his ass. For better or worse, he tried to play protector, but pretty much failed...

You think Grayson Hall ever went home after taping an episode and said: "Sam, what the hell was that script all about?!"  ;)

Ain't it though? :)

I'll also go with the awkwardness and jerkiness of both Julia and Willie making sense--given that they have never been really all that close up until now.

Willie is even suspicious of Julia when she offers him a job at Wyndcliff; of course Julia does freely admit that she made the offer only because Barnabas would want Willie "taken care of"--in his own weird Barnabas kind of way...

Despite those scenes being something of a train wreck, they are compelling--as are Grayson Hall & John Karlen, of course...

I think both Julia and Willie have selective memories, forgetting the chokings and beatings...

So true!!  :D  How many times did Barnabas try to kill Julia?  Worse yet, how many times did he manipulate her or trifle with her obvious feelings for him--to the point even clueless Carolyn calls him on it.

And how many times did he belittle Willie's intense feelings for Maggie?  Not to mention setting him up for her kidnapping!

And wasn't that bitch-slap Julia gave Cassandra SO satisfying?

Immensely. And this exchange (paraphrased):

CASSANDRA: I think you're in love with him.
JULIA: Not nearly as much as you.

Duh and duh!

Too bad TV shows didn't do "special" episodes back then, like the Buffy musical.  I'd love to hear Julia break into a rousing version of "Stand By Your Man"!

I absolutely love that site and have shared it with other DS fans who have given it thumbs up!

I enjoyed the slap and hope Grayson Hall enjoyed the scene, since as Magda in the 1897 story she gets manhandled rather badly by assorted characters.

A shame it happens to Magda, as Julia would've enjoyed the manhandling so much more... ;)

Monday & Tuesday's eps were immensely satisfying and lots of fun.  Not only were G. Hall & J. Frid battling drama queens, Hall & J. Karlen flubbed more lines in those scenes where they bury Barnabas than everyone else in all 1200+ episodes combined. ;)

WILLIE:"Wh-Wh-Wh-What're we gonna tell ev-ev-ev'rybody at the Old House--er, Big House?"

Planning a trip to prison, Willie...? :)

Even scarier than that, scout75.  Our Mayor, not known for being cool, quoted lyrics from Jimmy Eat World and Moby songs, EEEEEEEEK!

Grrr! Augh! ;D
