Current Talk '07 I / Re: What if there are no more fests . . .
« on: January 12, 2007, 12:32:31 AM »
Since Dan Curtis is dead I think the furture of the DS Fest is in the hands of his family members, they own the rights now. They may close everything down and that would inculde Jim's job. I pray this dosen't happen I look foward to seeing my friends each year. And I also believe that if there is money to be made by the stars books and etc those stars will try the hardest to have other fest's.  We all just have to wait and see and hope for the best.

He looked cuter in the blondle wig :) I think back now 10 years and can't believe I wore that T-Shirt but it did get alot of laughs. And for the rest of Craig's time on this earth he called me Mrs. B. Even though he isn't here anymore I do hope there is another fest next Summer.

And speaking of Don Briscoe I believe he is gone a year tomorrow. And I know that Craig finally must have gotten to meet and speak to him.   We both thought he was one of the best looking men created, then, now and always.

And Karlenfan doing the dance from The Rocky Horror Picture Show? And The 97 Fest when she had the shirt for me made that said "My name is Janet and this is Don Briscoe's baby" and people actually thought it was his baby.

We'll make sure to have some laughs.  That's what Craig would want.   [hall2_smiley]

And Craig will be watching over us saying, those people are still wacky, what a minute I was one of those people! and he always will be.

Nope, we can't talk about those things here, but I had no idea those early years were the best years of my life. I had my daughter and Craig would buy me reeses peanut butter cups by the dozen. Remember when we saw The Monkeys ? and the hot tub in LA? wow, we are lucky people to have such great friends that love us for ourselves will come running from all over the USA if you need them. I know I am so grateful you and I will be together at the memorial your the strong one. I love you

For anybody out there who hasn't seen it, here is an interview with Dan Ross himself, conducted by Craig Hamrick:

Craig was nice enough to invite me to a lunch he was having with Mrs. Ross. She was a sweet woman who talked alot about her animals. We actually took out pictures of our dogs.

Gay South Florida, a Miami Herald blog by Steve Rothaus, did a piece on Craig Hamrick on October 4. It includes a few comments from Lara Parker.

I don't know what I would do without you and that wonderful computer experienced mind of yours. You put these articles here knowing I would never find them right :)

Yes! my insurance company is giving me problems with my MRI's. Because I have had so many tests they want to know what the DR is looking for. I think it is cleared up, but meanwhile I go another week in pain and not knowing what is wrong with me. And I am the one that asked for all these tests, I did the research and I am ruling out things. My Dr just writes the prepscription for the tests and drugs.

Midnite checked the iTunes Gay USA page.
This show is not there yet, but it should be up soon.
The audio is already online. It's about halfway through the podcast.  :)

Thank you for that, you do know how computer stupid I am.

On this week's show, Gay USA noted the passing of Craig Hamrick, whom they called a respected book editor and photographer. Dark Shadows Online was also mentioned in passing.

That is so wonderful of them to do that for him. I haven't seen it and would love to. I don't get that channel.

Castlebee is so right. Three years ago I lost a dear friend of 30 years to Ovarian Cancer. I went to the Dr after that every 6 months. Sadly, I had to have a hysterctomy in May and I am still having alot of problems. My colon was tested and now tomorrow I need a sonogram. These tests are out there please do them. I think everyone, especially women should have a CA-125 blood test for women type cancer's every year. Also did you know that if your mother had Ovarian cancer and you are male you have a higher risk of getting Colon cancer. Craig's mother did have Ovarian cancer, thankfully she is alive and well. The Dr's will fight you on this but demand it, I did.  I have learned lately that you have to be your own doctor sometimes.

Absolutely.  It was a lovely tribute, Stuart.

Stuart, you could write the ABC's and I would cry. You have the gift.

Your right John, Craig knew what actor I had the hot's for (Don Briscoe) and that I had every line from "Boys in The Band" memorized. And I also watch to much TV and I know who the first couple was to sleep in a double bed . This was a long time joke between us.  The night of the acadmeny awards my favorite actor showed up with his mother! my phone rang in a second I heard this long hard laugh saying sorry sister he is one of my own. Well, Craig that is to be seen. I can laugh forever one day just on my memories.
