A strange morning shot, with a thin line of glowing grass. Evan starts to move and get involved in this episode, and we see what part he's really going to play in the 1897 Show, and it's not a lawyer. He's really 1897's Stokes, the local black arts expert, emphasis on "black", and accordingly not quite as willing to be drawn into others' supernatural problems out of the goodness of his heart. He announces that there's no such thing as a friend, after Quentin begs him for help... then is seemingly acting as a friend just after the commercial break. Maybe he looks into every other-worldly cranny just for opportunities for himself.
Evan, talking to Judith about Dorcas's death, instantly notices Beth's uncomfortable reaction to the news for what it is, vaguely speaking-- her knowing something she's not telling. He may have instantly connected it to Quentin. Beth doesn't ask if it was Rachel. It could have been.
Good Magda-Evan confrontation. It's a professional conference of sorts. I love how Evan "knows", and is thinking faster than we are, which is a relief. Too often the show moves more slowly than our brains do...
Evan's advice goes unappreciated by Quentin, and he leaves. The transformation starts. Good for Beth, instantly redrawing the pentagram, and getting Q into it. What would have happened if he'd stayed in it? He changes. Beth sees. She can handle it though, unlike Sabrina. Violet Welles wrote.
