Current Talk '02 II / Re: Angelique returning as a vampire

Today's scene between Nicholas and Angelique is what I was referring to.  I wanted to see Angelique's first reaction to what has happened to her.  Their conversation today would seem to be that "missing" scene, but since he obviously let her out previously to go after Tom, surely this couldn't have been her first realization of her situation.

On one hand, it's quite exciting to see what happens to Tom without knowing who did it.  On the other hand, Nicholas did make some comment about "Angelique" - so they gave it away before they actually showed her.

I would really have liked to see her reaction when she first arose and saw Nicholas and discovered what had happened to her.  But, since we know she already got out to "get" Tom, obviously we don't get that scene.

Well, "You are Elizabeth Collins Stoddard!"

Given the way the choices were, I had a feeling that's how mine was going to come out, although I had a few choices that I'm sure must have really thrown it off!!

This story is absolutely fantastic!!  Really enjoying it :)

Back when you stated that the 1st 3 chapters would be "disappearing" - I hurried to copy them to read when I had a chance.  Before I could even get started 4, 5 and 6 suddenly appeared, followed shortly thereafter by 7.  I was beginning to think I would have no hope of catching up!!

Anyway, I finally did those 1st three over the weekend followed by 2 or 3 more and I have finally caught up to this new 8.

Aside from the exciting plot, I love the detailed background.  It's really fun to see snow at Collinwood!!!  And the relationship between Carolyn and Quentin, amongst other things, is very interesting.

I have a guess about Karswell, but don't want to take a chance on influencing anyone else :)

It only occurred to me when reading the title of your post that since Roger is the one (although unknowingly) who marries his grandmother, it's extremely appropriate that he was the one to make that misstatement (incestor)! ;D

That's just it, though: it's not necessarily supposed to be reconcilable.  What happened in parallel time doesn't have to be consistent with that of regular/normal/reference (take your pick) time.  PT is all about different paths/choices the characters took as opposed to the time-travel story of 1795.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

That's fine for PT things and I quite agree.  However, the Miranda part was in 1840 regular time, so it SHOULD be consistent with the other RT stories.  The Miranda part might be consistent, but other things - i.e., the ages of Ben and Daniel Collins, etc. don't quite fit with their 1795 introduction.

I don't find any problems with Miranda coming back or being reincarnated or transformed or whatever as Angelique.  She keeps disappearing, dying, and so on and coming back as Angelqiue, so it seems quite possible that she could have come back and used a different name.

The only thing in the series that makes it seem impossible is back in 1795 when the Countess talks about her and mentions remembering her as an "uninteresting child" - so presumably they recall her as a child and growing up.  I just don't see her being "reborn" as a baby and actually growing up again, although I suppose that's possible.

Hmm LOL Why would the Big House have plumbing and not the Old House? They were both from the 1790s

While they were both built in the "old days," Collinwood continued to be used from that point on, so it's reasonable to assume that when indoor plumbing became available, that the people at the big house would have had it renovated.

And, it's not just Adam - we've had instances of people being held by someone at times, usually in a small room, so the same thing would apply to them!

Wow!  Just wonderful and detailed descriptions from everyone!!  Thank you all so much.  As I suspect more are still to come, I'll make this a general thank you in advance for those.  It's all quite appreciated. :)

I agree.  I think Angelique was just desperate to save herself and was willing to say or do anything to accomplish that.  It's really fun to see him refuse!!

Current Talk '02 II / Those Wacky Collinses and Other Comments

All right, we know what Cassandra and Nicholas were up to and why they were up so late.  Roger at least HAD gone to bed and came downstairs in his night clothes.  And, Vicki was actually in bed, and so was dressed appropriately.

Then, Cassandra goes to Barnabas.  We know this is already a good bit past 2 a.m.  He's no longer a vampire.  Yet he's there in his house dressed in a suit after 2 a.m.??

AND, Vicki runs to get Julia (one would assume from HER room) and SHE comes in FULLY DRESSED!!!!

I found it rather amusing that after persisting in calling "Cassandra" "Angelique" all of this time, when she finally admits that she's Angelique, the next time he calls her Cassandra!!  Loved the whole scene between them.  (But, again, where did she get the gun?  Nicholas took her powers away; Roger shows up and has a confrontation with her.  She gets away from him, runs to the Old House and is suddenly hiding a gun!

Back to yesterday - I always wondered about the scene when Julia insists that Barnabas must have been buried alive and gets Stokes to help dig up the coffin.  She persuades him to do all of this and to leave her alone with the promise that the next day she will explain.  So, the time finally comes for explanations - he only asks about the Adam suffocation part, not the Barnabas buried alive part (although he does question the rushed, secret burial) - and she manages to evade all the questions!!  I could never get over how she could get out of that one.  He reveals some of what he knows; one has to wonder if he's guessed the rest (the burial part would seem to be a pretty big clue for him).

Even Roger seems to be making a connection between the portrait and Cassandra.  Yet the blond hair seems to have thrown everyone off.  MINOR SPOILER

In a later story when she comes back as blond Angelique, she worries that members of the family will recognize her, and while they seem to note some familiarity, they don't.

I like Twilight Zone, but I've seen them all a hundred times!

I had to laugh at that part of your comment.  I'm sure you could say the same about DS!!
