Plus, he more or less let Jason meet his death at the hands of Barnabas.

I don't agree with this part.  Willie quite frantically tried to get Jason to leave.  He mentioned that it was getting dark and kept urging Jason to go away.  He tried giving him some jewels that he had with him at that moment and tried to convince him that it was all he could do and to please leave.  Jason insisted on going further.  When he saw the coffin, he figured the jewels were there and Willie still kept pleading with him to stop.  I really don't think he could have done anything else.

I find it hard to believe that Adam spent so much time attempting to strangle Vicki and then didn't even succeed.  This is a man who bent the iron bars of his cell and broke a hearty deputy's neck with ease.  Why is it so difficult for him to attack a young girl?  Is it because Adam's conscience is subconsciously preventing him from carrying out his threat? Or is it because we need to drag out the suspense by cutting away to Barnabas hammering at the door and shouting?

I didn't get the impression that he was trying to strangle her at that point.  I thought he was just restraining her and trying to keep her quiet.  I felt that he didn't realize his own strength and was surprised to see what he had done to her, and that was partially why he was looking at his hands like that, as though he couldn't believe what he had done.

My, you HAVE been busy!!   :) :)  I just noticed the dual colors are back!  I'm not sure when it happened; I'm sure things were still all black when I was here a few hours ago.

Actually, I didn't even realize it!!  I had read this part, and subsequently noticed a post by ShadowsAtlanta in which the black star could slightly be seen.  I thought, "oh, on the lighter background it shows up," and suddenly realized we had the alternating colors back!!!!

Thank you, it really makes it easier to find the most recent items without spending too much time on what came before.

Current Talk '02 II / Vicki matures
« on: July 27, 2002, 09:43:58 AM »
Well, it was interesting to see Vicki breaking the engagement because she can't marry someone who keeps secrets from her.  It's a shame, because we know the reason and why he can't tell her, but from her point of view it was nice to see her reacting like that.

Back in the days with Burke, she tried to ask him a bit about his background and he kept saying that the past didn't matter, only that they loved each other and the future.  She was quite accepting of this.

Current Talk '02 II / Vampire Victims
« on: July 27, 2002, 09:39:12 AM »
Someone mentioned the other day about the different reactions of vampire victims - some weak and fainting and others in quite good spirits.

Jeff, in particular, has puzzled me.  Immediately after the first attack, he was passed out (as they generally seem to be) with Angelique watching over him.  But, when he revived, he wasn't quite in her thrall.  He gave her an order and she had to tell him that she gives the orders, etc.  At the end of the scene, to make sure of him, she bites him again.  This time, despite the additional loss of blood, he doesn't faint away, but suddenly he does seem to be her slave.

Yet, since then, while frequently rubbing his neck and knowing that he has to learn about the experiment to do what she wants, he in no way acts like a typical vampire victim.

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Carolyn, what's wrong with you?
« on: July 27, 2002, 09:29:25 AM »
I was going to mention some continuity problems, so this seems a good place to add them.

First, the obvious kind - at the end of the episode with Elizabeth's dream and it's "repeat" in the next episode.  In Robservations, Robin says Carolyn was in nightclothes in the one and fully dressed in the next.  I didn't realize that one (!), but Elizabeth was wearing a light blue robe and there was a green blanket the first time.  When they replayed the scene at the start of the next show, she was in the bright red-pink and had "Maggie's" colorful afghan.

Why was Barney musing about the vampire disappearing after Tom Jennings, when in yesterday's episode he made it so obvious that he knew Joe was under one's power? Can't the writers remember the script from two days ago? Why didn't Barney just leave when Joe told him to and then spy on him?

That was one I had thought about.  Barnabas really seemed to suspect what Joe's problem was when he was at the house with him, but now seems to be totally puzzled by the lack of any other vampire victims.

I also found the Evans' painting to be rather funny.  Maggie showed that she had it all wrapped up for Nicholas at the time that he wrote the check for $2000.  Apparently Joe's surprise entry threw them all off.  So, he said he'd come for it at 5 the next day, at which time Maggie shows him that she has it ready (he clearly already knew that from the day before!).

Stokes really surprised me today.  The other day he tells Jeff that he knows all about the experiment and that he knows that Jeff is working on it - Julia had told him.  They then have quite a dramatic scene with Adam followed by Stokes following him to Collinwood to try to talk him into returning to work instead of going out with Vicki.  Today he seems to be surprised that Jeff is working with them.  I wondered if there could be a reason that he was pretending for Barnabas, but that not only doesn't make sense, but some of the things he says to Jeff would imply that none of the previous events had happened.

Maggie with Nicholas is really unbelievable!  And, while you're indicating that she wasn't too bright, originally she was the sharp one!  But, even if she didn't catch on to Nicholas from all of the previous encounters - when he suddenly shows up at 4 in the morning just because he suddenly had a feeling that there was something wrong and he had to check on her!!  Really!!!  She actually believed that?!!!

(By the way - she had the painting wrapped up for him when he gave her the check.  Evidently Joe's arrival disturbed everyone, because he left the check but said he'd be back for the painting the next day - at which time she informs him she has it ready - he knows that!)

Again, her encounters with Joe - when Nicholas plants the seeds that it could be another woman.  Joe has been pleading with her that he loves her, kisses her, and begs her to keep him there and not let him out.  I can understand her puzzlement and that she might think of mental illness, as you suggested, but I can't imagine that sounding like someone who is going with another woman.

Adam's getting good (it's a shame that aspect is about to come to an end!) - his statement to Stokes about no one caring if anything happens to him and the whole Freud thing and how could Carolyn have lived so long and learned so little (!) were really good scenes.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Re: The Reason There Have Been Access Problems
« on: July 26, 2002, 09:39:04 AM »
Point of curiosity - you say that you shut down access to guests, but when I checked who was logged in, there were guests listed - at one point 3, later 2, and recently 1.

Also, in connection with that, one would have to come in as a guest first in order to sign up!

As to the number of guests, I think it makes sense in almost any forum that there are more people who come by and read but don't actually sign up or post.  And, in this case, they can still post as guests, which many have done.  And, look at how many new cousins there have been lately.  I'm sure they are former guests who decided to become part of the family.

There seems to be a very major change to the actual posting.  On Monday I missed the show and copied Robservations (if you'll recall my recent post about keeping my mother and her roommate up-to-date).  Actually, I have a separate question about the pictures, but I'll get to that some other time.

Anyway, I wanted to copy something today - and - it won't copy anything any more!!  At least Robservations is on the SciFi Board, too, so if I need that I can get it.  Today there was something funny I wanted to remember for my mother and aunt, and so planned to copy it to have it available.

Just to see, I tried Robservations and one or two other things, and it's impossible to copy the text any more.

I can't make up my mind.  The black is certainly striking and will eliminate the problem in choosing which colors will show up against which background.  I'm not sure about "our info" at the top as opposed to the side.  It might just take getting used to.

But - I find it a bit awkward to tell one post from the next.  In fact, it seems that the "personal info" for the next poster appears right with the signature part of the previous one.  The alternating colors we had before made it instantly obvious.  Perhaps you could use this black and then a dark gray for contrast.

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Drained of blood but still able to SPY??

When she first came down the stairs yesterday (I thought it looked like she was trying to sneak out!), Barnabas came over and asked why she wasn't staying in bed.  She said she was still a bit weak, but all right.

It was the owner of the video store where we rented DS that put me on to "The Prisoner."  When we finally completed DS, we started on that.  It's a number of years ago by now, so I don't recall any specifics, but can definitely visualize the gist of the show and really liked it.
