Out of Sight, But in Mind
« on: May 03, 2006, 07:35:58 PM »
I hope that this exercise hasn't been done before.  I thought it would be interesting to list the "characters" that were mentioned on the show but never seen.  This has happened several times during the 1970 PT plotline that I am currently watching.  One character mentioned, and I assume will never be shown, is Maggie's sister.  During the course of the show, I'm sure there have been many others.  So, anyone want to start naming names?

Willie's girlfriend, Roxanne. Wish we could have seen her. I think it would have been interesting for Elizabeth Eis (PT Buffie) to play her.

I was always VERY grateful we never got to see Willie's "Roxanne".

That way I could ignore the fact that she ever existed.....[vryevl]

Mrs. Johnson's daughter.  It was during the "dream curse" and Julia Hoffman tells Mrs Johnson to go visit her daughter so she wouldn't tell David the dream.
Cassandra:  I have a potion.  You know it well.  As soon as she drinks it, within an hour, she will go to sleep and have the dream.
Nicholas:  I am much to talented to spend my time drugging drinks.

During the P.T. 1970 storyline, I believe that there was a Collins family physician named "Dr. Blum," who was never actually seen.

The Woman in White, especially if she'd been played by Nancy Barrett as a DS calendar once claimed.

Good one, Buzz.  I've always wondered about her.  Also, Ned Stuart appeared in early '69, but during the Leviathan storyline, though he was mentioned many times by Sabrina and Chris and Julia, he never showed up again.

Oh I'm a bad fan and I don't have time to look up this character's name, but I REALLY wish we had seen the gent Liz wanted to come back to work for her in 1966.  He had been a beau of hers, but she wasn't interested... at the time.

I think it would have been cool if the stylish gentleman from Boston Sam mentions in his wrap-up of the storyline, who comes to Collinwood and eventually marries Liz, would have been this person.

It would have been fun to have had Mrs Johnson's daughter come for a visit.  Characters we only saw once but needed to see a lot more of--Portia Fitzsimmons tops the list!

Aye Gothick, that be Ned Calder.  Not sure why I added the pirate accent, but there it is.

There were also all those Collins ancestors mentioned at various times when people were gazing at portraits, letters, family histories, etc.. Abner Collins, Caleb Collins, Isaac Collins, etc.

In 1795, Natalie refers to her late sister-in-law (Andre's wife and Josette's mother) Marie DuPres!
And let's not forget the most legendary offscreen character of the pre-Barnabas episodes: Ned Calder- who was a bigwig at Collins Enterprises until Liz turned down his marriage proposal and he left town in a huff.  Also from this time period: Betty Hanscomb(e) (who was probably Vicki's birth mother) and her father B. Hanscomb(e) [what is the actual spelling?], a former Collins butler who was the man that Roger ran down with the car and framed Burke for his death.

Ah, yes!  The marvelous Portia Fitzsimmons, played by the equally marvelous Lovelady Powell.

Another character mentioned but never seen is Niall (sp?) Bradford, Barnabas's alleged cousin.  And what about the mysterious owner of the monogrammed handkerchief that Vicki found in that house she and Burke were going to buy?  I'd love to know how that storyline would have played out.

And then there's Julia's identical twin sister, the larger-than-life Broadway diva who made Auntie Mame seem reserved...oh, wait...never mind...
