For a month now, i have been trying to get logged on the board...but I couldnt...I changed my email address and I couldnt get my new password and i keep dealing with this until today.!!!  So now I am happy!!

Wow, Jon!  If you ever get into a bind like that again, please let me know.  As long as you're not seeing a message that says the forum doesn't exist (which is merely our host toying with us, grrrr!... but I'm not bitter ;)) you'll be able to reach me at <Midnite@dsboards.com>.

BTW, the reason you had problems getting your pw is cuz you changed the addy in your profile to aol, and mail from dsboards doesn't get through to aol (and cs.com, cs.net, netscape.net and rr.com, which all use aol servers).  So I have to warn you that this will probably continue to happen to you as long as you list that aol address (though I wouldn't blame you a bit for not wanting to risk another hassle by changing it right now, LOL), which is why we've been asking cousins to use other addresses.

But now I'm curious how you managed to get your password!!  Did you keep requesting it until finally it got through to you?  I know that 1 cousin managed to receive a pw via Compuserve, and I'm hoping that was the case for you too cuz it would be a first for an aol account! :)

Well, here's my rather feeble attempt at getting these two shirtless werewolves together.

LOL, I knew you were going to do that!

Does this mean I'm psychic? ;)

If someone DISAGREES with your opinion they're more than welcome to explain why to the rest of us.

Exactly.

Quote
If they have to resort to ATTACKING your opinion (and/or YOU), well....just ignore them.

Actually, those are situations the mods will handle:

3. Debate should be kept on a non-personal basis. Flaming and name-calling will not be allowed. It is never appropriate to attack, criticize, or condemn another poster. Retaliation, sharp reproof and cynicism are to be avoided. Disagreement is a natural occurrence, but as stated above, should be done in a respectful manner. Likewise, these disagreements should not be continued beyond the normal limits of interesting discourse. Argument for argument's sake is not welcome.

I've been reading some of the ongoing discussions in other topics with interest, particularly in reference to what qualifies as an answer and what doesn't.  I've brought this up before before but apparently it bears repeating:  If a poster throws a question out for discussion, they don't get to dictate or judge its answers.  Suggesting possible answers or providing a list from which to choose is helpful, but if a poster's response strays from a given list, no one may attempt to intimidate him or her for it.

Those symbols and numbers appear in place of punctuation when I paste from Word or Word Perfect.  I'm sure I can get a copy of your summary from the Shadows list and fix 'em.

?!? Spoiler
[backcolor=red]I may be mistaken, but I remember some years into the story, someone discovers Harry Johnson's body (or skeleton) behind one of the infamous walls in Collinwood.  Does anyone else remember this?  Not Trask, not Barnabus, but Harry was either murdered and stuffed in the wall or was walled up alive.  ???????[/backcolor]

Maybe you're thinking of Dameon Edwards in 1970 PT, who...

...was murdered and stashed behind a secret panel in the cellar til Angelique locates his skeleton in order to exorcise his ridiculously superfluous spirit?

Thanks, Vlad!  I was just thinking about her the other day.  If you speak to her again, please give her my best and let her know she's been missed.

I hope he's in it more tomorrow.

Unfortunately, no.  They'll again have several different plotlines in the one ep.  (And we thought DS had an ensemble cast!)

Welcome Maggie! [hello]

The avatar you've chosen is unfortunately in use by another poster, Maggie Evans, so you can see where it might be difficult to distinguish the two of you, but not to worry cuz I think DS68_maggie_C1.jpg (which is similar to the one you have now) and DS68_maggie_L1.jpg are available.  If I'm wrong about that, I hope someone will let me know.  Anyway, if you'd like to check them out, they're displayed in a topic on the Testing 1,2,3 board called DS 1968 Avatars Part 3, and please let me know if you need any help with either one.

Hiya, Trask!

You'll find that post here, under Reply #26:

http://www.dsboards.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=news;action=display;num=1030318534;start=26

The problem is that the link to the mp3 doesn't seem to be working, even using IE, or at least it didn't just now.  But perhaps the webpage is only down temporarily.

There's also a hard copy of that 1968 interview in the Members' Archives, but for the Gateway to appear you'll need to keep on posting.

Hope you'll continue to read and post!

Just checked this week's TV Guide.

Hill Street Blues is on at 2pm this week, not at noon. The Bravo TV channel confirms this, too.

Don't miss JK.

Oh, my apologies!  The show has aired twice a day for weeks and weeks at the same times so I didn't bother to check the scheduling, silly me.  Bravo sure chose a lousy day to change their scheduling, but it's fortunate for us that you checked. :D

According to the TV Guide site (better late than never? ;)) it'll indeed be JK in both "The Spy Who Came in From Delgado" on Monday and "Freedom's Last Stand" on Tuesday.

For West Coast residents:  In addition to changing their scheduling, Bravo is also instituting a West Coast feed on Sept. 30, which means the eps may air in that TZ at either 11 a.m. or 2 p.m., depending on whether your cable provider will pick up the new feed or not.  So, you may want to program your VCR to tape both times.  (In the case of DS on SciFi, it took AT&T Broadband a couple of weeks to catch up to it.)

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Checking and modifying posts
« on: September 29, 2002, 07:45:16 AM »
I have a request that I've been meaning to make for a while-- an easy one, I hope!¢â‚¬¦

When a post is submitted, the program automatically loads the page that contains it.  All I'm asking is that posters glance at these messages once they're on the board and, if necessary, modify them.  I realize that time is a priority for many here, as mentioned in the first couple of pages in the New forum Logo topic on the Testing board, but looking over a post once it's submitted, even if it ended up at the bottom of the page, under normal circumstances takes only seconds.

As I've said before, I never edit content unless it violates a forum guideline.  However, I do modify messages for these reasons:  to remove or add spacing, to attribute a quote to its author (especially if the quoted message appears on a different page) or to add quote tags if a quote has nothing to differentiate it from the rest of the text, to remove signatures if they're redundant (maybe this is my hangup, but if the person saying the quote is already listed above the quote, why bother to include it within the quote too?), to repair YaBB codes, and to add spoiler warnings.

So if you can please quickly look over your submitted posts for any faulty code (a smiley that shouldn't be there, a mistyped emoticon, or quote tags that aren't working) or if you see enough blank space to drive a truck through, it would be much appreciated.  As long as you're logged in, you can modify your own posts at any time.  I sympathize that quoting text still is a problem for some, and MB and I don't mind explaining the forum's features, but when users consistently make the same code errors over and over in lieu of asking for help, then it becomes somebody else's problem, and on some days I find that I'm modifying as many as ¼ of the posts I read.  I do it as a courtesy because I don't feel that someone reading your message should have to scroll through a whole lotta blank space (I've seen the blank space in posts fill my screen from top to bottom) to get to the next post or that it should be difficult to figure out who said what in your message, or that readers should have to read through a quote that has nothing to do with your reply, but it's my hope that everyone will be willing to take the minimal extra time required to check their own posts and modify them if needed.

Thanks, and a huge thank you to the posters that have consistently taken responsibilty for their own posts. :D

P.S.  As always, typos and misspellings are mandatory here.  I'll ignore yours if you ignore mine. ;)
