I don't know if anyone here is familiar with Geocaching, (http://www.geocaching.com) but I've gotten pretty hardcore about the hobby over the past several months. I've discovered that one North Carolina cacher, who goes by the handle "Ozguff," is pretty much the spitting image of a young Dan Curtis. I have to wonder if he's found any hidden coffins while out on the hunt. Or if not, does he plan to?

He does look like Dan Curtis. I wonder if they could be related?
Have you had the opportunity to question him on the Geocaching forum?
Is that pic his signature item?
I wanted to Geocache.
I'm a city girl through and through, (by nature, not location) and thought Geocaching would be a fun activity
to actually get me out in the fresh air.
I was wrong, very wrong.
I ran into a skunk on my very first cache hunt. No one told me Geocaching would be so dangerous.
Now I prefer to stay indoors as much as possible. Preferably watching my Dark Shadows Dvd's.
Have fun Geocaching! Be careful!

I assumed "geochaching" was some computer thing. What is it? And our town in the capital for skunkdom, so don't do it here..,.
-
Magnus, you could type (or paste) define: geocaching into the Google search box to see short definitions plus links for more info.

Note that in the word "geocaching" above, I included a link to http://www.geocaching.com, which explains the sport in detail.
OzGuff isn't from the immediate vicinity, so I've never met him personally. Our paths will probably cross one of these days, though. The photo is from a playing card set that features photos of NC geocachers. Here's mine: http://justbeeme.com/rodan.jpg
A skunk would be one of the more mundane threats I've encountered to date. Out on the trails, I frequently myself facing black widows, copperheads, feral pit bulls, ticks, hornets, mosquitos, briers, poison ivy, sinkholes... all the usual stuff one finds when spending a lot of time in a somewhat less-than-urban setting. ;)
On the other side of that, I've also been hiking two to five miles a day, lost ten pounds, quit smoking, and discovered tons of intriguing places, including underground tunnels, (http://stephenmarkrainey.blogspot.com/2008/05/where-sun-dont-shine.html) mountain overlooks, Hell, (http://stephenmarkrainey.blogspot.com/2008/07/hell-is-just-ahead.html)hidden iron mines, and lots more. I've seen more of Greensboro, NC, in the last six months than I've seen in 20 years of living here. There are also plenty of easy-to-find urban hides, which involve little personal risk and/or physical effort. Depending on where you are, there's just about something for everyone who's interested in it.
Pardon the extensive non-DS rambling, but that's just a bit of geocaching for you. I will tell you this -- a couple of my geocaching adventures did provide the inspiration for scenes in Dark Shadows: The Path of Fate audio drama, due in a couple of months from Big Finish. ;)

Midnite: Thanks, I needed reminding to go for a definition, thanks for the hint, I didn't know about that, dictionary.com works though. MR-- I need very short, focused definitions because of my eye problem.
Of course it turns out it does have to do with computers...

Does somebody geocache a vampire?
-
[ghost_cheesy]
Nope. No vampires in Path of Fate.
-
Wow! That is exciting news Mark! [cheers]
Will Dark Shadows : The Path of Fate be a stand alone or
will it continue the series or start a new series?
-
Path of Fate is a stand-alone story, though it takes place within the continuity established by the other Big Finish audio dramas.

Ach. The original page with the cards was taken down, as it was just for temporary display. Anyhoo, here are the individuals in question:
