Oh, I was just trying to take the quotation marks away from the words under the avatar 'cause they don't show up right.  It won't let me change anything in the profile - I keep getting the 65 x 68 error message but I wasn't doing anything with the avatar.
Connie, I peeked at your avatar image, and this is a guess cuz this new forum setup is new to me too, but converting the image to pixels shows it's more than 4 times the recommended size, so it could be (as I said, this is just a guess) that the system isn't letting you save your updated profile cuz it's not accepting such a large image.

You could try reducing the size of the image and then seeing if you're able to save changes to your profile.  It's just a suggestion, but I've been able to update my profile without getting any error messages, so I don't understand (!) why you shouldn't be able to also.

Well, it IS good to be back. BUT, prior to SUNDAY AFTERNOON? I have tried to get here every single day for weeks and weeks!!! Why/how were others able to?
Kuanyin, I don't know any details about the problem you were having, but a couple of things come to mind.  First off, following our move to an interim server about 3 weeks ago, emails were sent to all members on January 26 asking them to update their bookmarks in order to access the forums.  Secondly, there's a topic on this board called "Problems Accessing the New Board?" that you might want to check out to see if you can find your answer there.  Sorry, but I don't know what else to tell you right now.

I think its just my Karma to be a thread KILLER! :'(
LOL.  Oh, Ringo, I assure you that it wasn't your karma, er, fault-- it happened in other threads too and was tracked to another cause.

Wow - I'm getting all sorts of weird things happening on here
As the 1st page warns, "Please don't be surprised by anything you might see or that happen while you're there."

Can't do anything in my profile -- get errors.
What are you not able to change in your profile?

If it helps, it appears that avatars are required to be 65 x 68 pixels.

We can't collapse anything anymore??
Collapsing was a feature that was eventually added to the other YaBB version of the forums in an effort to save bandwidth, and with MB's most recent priority having been to get the forum converted and to the point that we could reopen, and with more tweaking required, that along with several other features have to wait.

It said when I FINALLY got to the board tonight, that I wouldn't be able to post new topics and it was right. But everyone else is! Is this something along the lines of ME being shut out for weeks, and when I get here at last I see that others have been posting for two weeks or so?  :'(
The conversion was only completed this afternoon, and no one has started any new topics since.  All the topics you're seeing on the boards were begun prior to Sunday afternoon when we went offline.

We're asking all posters to please not submit a new topic until we give the go-ahead, or as long as that request is on the 1st page.

Welcome back. :)

That's strange - I thought James Storm played Neil Fenmore on Young and the Restless in the mid-80's and his character died. Then his daughter Lauren inherited Fenmore's department store and went over to The Bold and the Beautiful. Is Storm playing a ghost? Or did he play some other character on B&B? (Anyone?)
Here's what cbs.com says about his appearance:

A Storm's Coming In
JIM STORM will reprise the role of Bill Spencer for a few special episodes when Stephanie contacts Bill for a favor. The episodes will begin airing on Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20.

Well, without my jester hat on, that Eddy behaves outwardly as if everyone is beneath him and that they should be his servant, while in reality in his deep subconscious he knows that the facade he puts on is merely that, a false front of 'know-it-allness' and arrogance. So his moment o'truth comes out by actually placing him in the role of gentleman's gentleman, literally licking the boot of his master.  There is a bit of irony there, too [esp. if he does the ironing for the shirts of the master] that he ends up treating those that he has looked down on for so long with an unknowing respect.  So maybe the Kiss of Truth could be called the Kiss of Irony.

[I am glad dinner will be ready soon, so I can get my [jester] hat back out]

Again with the food??!!  ;)

Ringo, as far as I'm concerned you can put that scholar's hat on any time you want!  Your explanation is the best I've heard.  Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Loved when you called him "Jeeves" in that other post thingie.

Couldn't they at least have gotten a bigger "doll" to at least make it appear more realistic?!

Speaking of dolls, very soon we'll to see one that wasn't invented for another 20 years.  Sloppy!

Unfortunately, sometimes the correct Spanish pronunciation carries over, and sometimes not.  I remember referring to San Pedro to a California friend once (using the Spanish pronunciation, San PAY - dro), and he said they pronounce it San PEE - dro.  How unflattering!

Isn't that awful?  I have no idea how it got started, but that's how San Pedrans can tell if you're from around there or not. ;)

Thank you for the link-- VERY eye opening.  And how reckless of that fan to go ahead with the story, sheesh.

Imagine the legal fees in trying to keep up with all the fan stuff.  Ugh.

Speaking of current soaps.....do any of you get a jolt when David talks about "Dr. Hoffman" when referring to Anna's baby? LOL I can't help it. Wish one of the characters would mention the reference like they did on General Hospital a year or so ago.

Loved hearing the name.  I guess AMC's Dr H won't be around anymore, cuz didn't I hear them say that the character had a stroke?

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's Saint-Germain-as-a-vampire persona is also a copyrighted fictional character (i.e. people can write about the real life man but the vampire persona is hers). Unfortunately Quinn has had to point it out many times in fan fiction related issues. :-(

That's interesting.  So even if the ff is written for recreation and not for profit, the creator can still prevent fans from writing about it?

BTW, it's great to see all these posts from you, Wiley!
