***** CHRIS PENNOCK IN NEW PRODUCTION OF SHAKESPEARE'S "KING LEAR"
Chris (Jeb, Cyrus/John, Sebastian, Gabriel) asks SG to please tell fans that this classic play opens July 13 and runs to August 1 (Chris hopefully adds, "and maybe beyond!").
Performances are at the Lee Strasberg Film and Theater Institute, 7936 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90046. 323-650-7777. (The location is near the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd. and Fairfax Ave.)
Chris says, "I'd love it if all the Dark Shadows fans in the area could come and support me in a truly terrifying endeavor. It's a wild and radical King Lear!"
Fans attending "King Lear" are invited and welcome to share their reports, photos, and program books with SG so fans who cannot be there can enjoy it through your experience.
SPOILER ALERT:
I seemed to recall Alexis say the PT Sam Evans drowned in a boating accident. The only way he could have come back would have been as a ghost....which isn't impossible since this IS Dark Shadows after all.
I'll bring the confetti!!!!!!!
In that scene where he visits Angelique's room, ostensibly to tell her that there was no hope, the one MB referred to, he obviously can't resist her. He grabs her and lays one on her very passionately. I saw that not just as lust, but as a man really hungry for the woman he truly loved, one who'd missed her desperately. That he tried valiantly to ignore it is true, but he wasn't very successful at that point.
I'm not completely sure if it was adequately explained on the show that Barnabas had an affair with Angelique BEFORE he started courting Josette. It could've been during the courtship, or he and Josette could've broken up and Barnabas could've taken refuge in Angelique's waiting arms.
The show captured my imagination when NBC Channel 4 in NYC began running the reruns in the afternoon. It lasted a while, but eventually I was forced to hunt for the 3am broadcasts. This must have been somewhere around 1982 or 83, but I just don't know when exactly. Can anyone help?
Additionally, if anyone can tell me the month and year they began to rerun DS on NJN, I'd appreciate it.
Another thing...weren't there a lot of zippers holding those 18th and 19th century gowns together too?
