**** JAMES STORM SAYS “THANK YOU!”

To So Many Kind & Supportive People,

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

I would like to take a moment and send my deepest heartfelt appreciation to all who have helped to make the WANDERLUST project such a success.

In just a few days, I board the Greyhound bus here in Los Angeles and start to record this adventure for all of us as I ride to Billings, Montana, and the world-class Nile Rodeo (Northern International Livestock Exposition). My photos, blog, Facebook, and Twitter reports will have you “riding” alongside me, sharing the people places, and experiences. This WANDERLUST journey will take a few weeks.

As I travel, your continuing support with your tax-deductible contributions will help in many ways. And remember: Dark Shadows fans who donate $50.00 or more will receive a personally-autographed copy of my rare country-western musical CD, “Shadow of a Storm,” including 2 songs I wrote.

In case you missed Jessica Chastain on today's CBS Sunday Morning, here's a transcript of the segment in which she speaks about her new film "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby," working with Pacino, playing Maya in "Zero Dark Thirty," and how Robin Williams' generosity made it possible for her to attend college.
The brightly-burning star that is Jessica Chastain

And if you did catch it, here's a (much) extended transcript of Tracy Smith's interview with the actress, who also talks about her shyness, working with Guillermo del Toro, Matthew McConaughey's swagger, and her admiration for Gary Oldman's "Dracula"(!).

SHADOWGRAM OFFICIAL DARK SHADOWS ONLINE NEWS:
SHADOWGRAM NEWS UPDATE   # 328
August 27, 2014

Hello, Dark Shadows Fan,

ShadowGram (SG), The Official Newsletter & News Source for Dark Shadows (DS), announces the following key breaking news in this Official DS News Online Update "bulletin."

***** JAMES STORM INVITES YOU TO JOIN IN AN EXCITING PROJECT

Jim (Gerard Stiles) asks SG to premiere-announce something he’s very excited about: A special new project. He hopes you will share it with other DS fans, family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who’d be interested.

Here is Jim’s full message to all of you.

WANDERLUST

"The heart of America is in the open road."

What is it about the open road?

What is it about the constant motion, no matter where you are going or what direction?

What is it about the WANDERLUST?

Combined with the two great passions of mine, travel and of course photography, it is the "Unknown."

It's the thrill of being in the present moment, hearing the stories of people and capturing their lives and the events surrounding those lives through the distinctive personal eye of the camera lens.

So in October of this year I am jumping on a Greyhound Bus, leaving Los Angeles, and heading for Billings, Montana. I want to take an in-depth look at the people who travel by this means of transportation, whether for just pure pleasure or maybe out of necessity. I want to hear their stories and capture those stories and events of the unknown in photographs.

Once in Billings, I will be going behind the scenes at the world-class Nile Rodeo (Northern International Livestock Exposition) and photographing an in-depth look at the lives and spirits of these "Gypsies of the West."

I really would like to take you on this trip with me. To do that, I am asking for your support to help me raise the funds to document the lives and events of the folks I meet on this journey.

To learn more about this exciting project and to contribute to "WANDERLUST," please view my video at INDIEGOGO.

The good news is that ALL contributions are a tax deduction. I have recently been accepted by FROM THE HEART, a not-for-profit organization, All donations will go for equipment and post-production work.

In 2015, my photographic work will be shown at THE LOST STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY in Hollywood, California. Contributors will have their names printed and recognized as sponsors of this exhibit. There also will be a coffee table book in the near future and all donors will be acknowledged as well.

You are invited to become a fellow traveler on this journey because I daily will be blogging captivating images on Facebook and Twitter. I will dedicate my online commentaries to all those who have been so generous to donate.

And now it's time to Thank You.

I have created some truly wonderful gift ideas from this project. Each is named for an American photographer who has inspired and influenced me.

And once again, all contributions are tax deductible.

--- GIFT IDEAS / PERKS:

The Robert Frank   $25.00  One of six images from the collection to be a screen saver for the computer. Also a "shout out" on Facebook and Twitter.

**** A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM MARCY ROBIN

In correspondence and at the recent DS Festival Weekend, I mentioned I’ve had health difficulties with emergency / follow-up surgeries and long recovery periods for 4+ years. I’m grateful to everyone for their good wishes, understanding, and patience over that time.

Briefly, I probably was born near-sighted (myopia). Myopic eye interiors grow fast throughout life and mine did – extremely, which left me vulnerable to retina detachments.  Starting in my late teens and over the next 10+ years I had multiple surgeries, including new, barely-tested procedures.

These early procedures were successful though they left multiple scars inside both my eyes. The problem stabilized by my 30s and doctors often told me they were amazed that “you can see as well as you do!” I obsessively went for regular check-ups and thankfully I only needed minor glasses/contact lens prescription adjustments. Yet the strong possibility of recurrence always hung over me as my eyes changed with age.

In Spring 2010 I had a major retinal detachment in my left eye. My regular eye doctor immediately sent me to a pioneering eye-specialist surgeon he knew well, since medical school. To secure the detachment, the surgeon performed a procedure he’d helped develop. For maximum healing success, I had to stay totally face-down for a full week with very limited activity for weeks afterward. This did work, thankfully. However, another retinal tear recurred about a year later. We had to repeat the surgery, with increased post-op restrictions. Again, everything worked.

Three months ago in late May 2014, my left retina abruptly tore again. Surgery repaired the damage but a new, different retinal hole occurred. Less than 36 hours after I stepped off the plane back home from the Dark Shadows Festival Weekend, he did my 4th procedure in 2 years. I was back to being strictly face-down for a week. He used a slightly different process this time, which has required an even longer recovery period. My most recent check-up was good, but he awaits final assessment in October.

All these surgical repairs have been invasive, done entirely inside each eye.  During the recovery time for each surgery I have been unable to see well enough to read for weeks at a time, which has prevented me from working on ShadowGram or keeping up with email and other correspondence.

I’ve had superb support every step of the way from the beginning.  My constant thanks and admiration go to all my doctors, their staffs, and every person anywhere who was involved with the nursing care, equipment, medications, actual procedures, hospitals and similar facilities, paperwork, etc., as I’ve gone all this throughout my life.

My deepest thanks and appreciation also go to SO many loved ones, friends, co-fans, co-workers, and others who’ve sent me messages, emails, cards, prayers, and thoughts of healing and hope. You’ve been there for and with me in so many ways and I am blessed.

Though I’ve been reluctant to say anything about my eye problems all my life, I now feel comfortable about explaining my What and Why.

We ALL have health and various personal worries for ourselves and those around us. (I’ve had other unexpected medical issues too.) Yet we are not alone when others openly and kindly offer their help, support, prayers, care, love…and to Just Be There.

To all those facing any kind of health and personal difficulties – and others you care about who have challenges as well  – I send my own positive thoughts, encouragement, and prayers for healing, calm, focus, strength, and happiness. When we reach out to and receive from others, each person benefits in countless ways.

When people care and wish you well, it lifts your spirit, wraps your heart in love, and brightens your path to ease you along Life’s Way ahead.

Thank You All.
