Oh, and please keep reviews, pontifications, explanations, etcetera, to the barest minimum. The "in release" thread has that stuff pretty well covered, but I think a purely statistical survey of member's opinions via a "yay or nay" poll will be interesting.

Tough call.  It's a good thing I have two thumbs, and even an even better thing that they're opposable, because I am of two opposing minds about the movie.  So: one thumb firmly up (Collinwood, Collinsport, and the present-day Collinses), and one thumb definitely down (Barnabas and Angelique).

I have to use both thumbs, too. Thumbs up because visually it's  very stunning and the acting is wonderful. But thumbs down because of the characterization of Julia and the Carolyn surprise.

I'm ambivalent, but plan to see it again, at least twice and buy it on DVD, so I guess thumbs up.

Okay somebody needed to give this a thumbs down, so I did my part...      Not that I won't see it again or buy the Blu-ray. It's just that it fell so far short of what it could have been. The first two thirds were fantastic, then it just fell to pieces when it focused on the Barnabas-Angelique conflict and threw in the you-know-who-becomes-you-know-what nonsense. The ending needs to be watched again in light of some other people's interpretations. I'm just hoping for an extended cut on DVD and Blu-ray to fill in plot holes and missing character development.
