Prof Stokes was fab in the costume gala and brought down the house with her song. I was so proud of her

ProfStokes brought the house down the next morning with her music video too. A collage of Barnabas and Julia scenes to the tune of "I'll Stand By You."  A lady of many talents is our own Profstokes.  [hello]

And speaking of talents, Ben plays a mean piano.  :)

I remember it well!

Mom wanted to watch DS because she liked Joan Bennett, so I watched it with her, even though I kind of resented this new show for replacing NEVER TOO YOUNG, which I'd been getting into.

Robin, I watched NEVER TOO YOUNG also, and was very upset that they replaced it with DS. I watched for the first week, then the spooky music started and I was outta there until a year later when I tried it again, saw Julia and Barnabas and was hooked.  :)

Yes, we had a rather lengthy discussion on the WillieList about the whole "Willie & Maggie 4 Ever" sentiment.

Great site, DJ, but Willie deserves better.  :P

Great to see you posting on this Board DrJuliaH! Love your avatar :), and needless to say, I also love your new website.

IMO The closest to "10" would be Barnabas/Julia.  They are clearly destined for each other.

Thank you Happybat. My sentiments exactly. Librarians think alike!  [read]

Many thanks to Midnite and Profstokes for making us all a part of that graduation.  Congratulations Profstokes, and I would love to see the text of your speech if possible.  BTW, Mayor Hahn is certainly old enough--I wonder if HE recognized the references ;D

I will be at the Festival (my third!)  Now I have a question: how many people are going to Disneyland?  I didn't sign up for the trip, and now I'm wondering if I should while there's still time.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the Fest! :)

I have been to Disneyland several times so I won't be going on the official Friday trip. I do hope to get there either during the Fest or immediately after.

I've always loved the entrance of Nicholas Blair. I thought both Astredo and Hall played it beautifully. Did you notice that Nicholas keeps his eyes on Julia for several seconds when he first enters and is being introduced? Obviously Nicholas was as fascinated by Julia as we Graysonhallics are fascinated by the actress. :)

Doombuggy,

Thanks for the tip about the California Adventure. I had heard similar comments from others who have visited. The rides you mentioned at Disneyland are all my favorites too, except for Splash Mountain, which I haven't tried. Space Mountain is my favorite coaster-type ride. Best of all though is the Raiders ride. It makes me laugh everytime.

With all to do at Disneyland it's going to be hard to fit in time to go to the Fest! I can see us all now--going into the HM and ignoring the ghosts and goblins, but listening very carefully to the voices. :D I join you in wishing that both Frid and Hall had done voiceovers for Disneyland.

Hi to you too doombuggy  [hello]

I love the origin of your username. You really are an expert on Disneyland. I think that I assumed the face in the crystal ball was a gypsy because that is what I was looking for at the time, and there is no other evidence of gypsies in the HM.

Thanks also for telling us who the main voice of the HM belongs to. Every time that I go I think that he sounds just like Orson Welles and wondered if Orson could possibly have recorded it. Now I have my answer. :D

Hope to meet you at the Fest this year. I could use your advice as to whether there is anything special to do at the California Adventure. I have heard that it's fairly ordinary compared to Disneyland.

Speaking of meeting--Midnite, will this crowd be hanging out around the bar again this year? I have been assigned to have an extra rum and coke in Nicky's honor.  [beer]

!I'm interested in your statement that Grayson's voice was never heard in the Haunted Mansion.  The only thing I had ever heard about this was from a fan who had a friend who THOUGHT she had heard GH's voice coming from a gypsy fortuneteller in the Mansion.  It's been so long since I was last there that I don't even remember whether there was a gypsy fortuneteller in there or not!

I recall that you and I discussed the subject of the fortuneteller once so when I last visited Disneyland I looked for her. The fortuneteller does indeed exist in the Haunted Mansion--as a head inside of a crystal ball. The voice of the gypsy is deep, like Graysons, and I can see where someone who had not heard her voice in a while might think it could be her. Listening to her everyday though, I can swear that it is not.

Glenn Close is a possibility for Grayson, but I think I'd like to give Meryl Streep an audition for the role. She's great with accents and she has performed with Grayson in "Happy End" so might have some insights she could call upon for the part.

I also love the idea of Alan Rickman. I'd love to see him in anything!

Maybe James Marsters (Spike in Buffy) for Don Briscoe?

I agree Ben . .what was his arrival in 1840 about?  First off Julia was so glad to see someone she knew after Ben died and then . ..Eliot doesn't do anything. . .pops in and out, says he's off to do something, which we never see the results of. . .he's around when Julia disappears too, isn't he . . ?? All we see is Barnabas lamenting her loss. . but where's Eliot to try and help find her?  Strange writing choice they made there.  .very strange. . .

Actually, the good Professor doesn't arrive until after Julia has disappeared and been found. In fact, he arrives just in time for Barn's disappearance, which is relatively near the end of 1840 as I recall. I certainly do agree that he didn't have much to do once he did arrive. I wish they had developed that angle more fully.

Mark,

I really enjoyed these chapters. I love the fact that both Julia and Quentin were prominently featured and I would very much like to receive your synopsis.  :D

Thanks for posting this.
