Kathy said at the Fest that printer problems had delayed it til October.  {fingers crossed}

She told me that because of the printer problems the next issue of "World of Dark Shadows" would be out in August, but so far I've seen no word of it being out yet so maybe the printer problems have not been solved. :(

Thanks so much, Midnite, for posting this link to the NYT arrticle about the Marriott. Though it did make me sad to read I have been searching all year for some info on the Marriott and just how it was impacted. I had seen one TV special that mentioned that the rescue workers were using the lobby as a staging area, but no other information, other than that at least 20 people and 2 employees had died. I remember the Tall Ships Restaurant so well, especially Saturday night in the lobby, just outside the restaurant where many of us on this Board spent a wonderful evening (and you have the pictures to prove it). This article answered all the questions that I had about a place which will forever remain in my memory and my heart.

I also have a matchbook from the Tall Ships and if I search my pen collection I can probably find at least one Marriott pen.

The subject of Windcliff's distance from Collinsport came up on another List and I realized that is really my biggest pet peeve. Where is that place anyway [hdscrt]

It is supposed 100 miles away, yet everyone who goes there and later "escapes" makes it back to Collinwood with no problem and with every hair in place--Maggie, Liz, Amy, David, Hallie. Are these people all seasoned hitchhikers or what?

I cancelled my order with Amazon on 9/6am-ordered from WWW.CDUNIVERSE.COM 9/6, it shipped 9/9 from Ct. and received it 9/11. My total cost was $46.98.  I believe I saved roughly $1.00 as opposed to ordering through Amazon.

I cancelled my Amazon order on 9/5 and ordered from CDUniverse that night. They shipped on 9/6 and I received it on 9/9. That is great service and they will have all my DVD/VHS/CD orders from now on.  :)

I think Willie did the "down and dirty" work on this job.

Willie buried him, but it was actually Eliot who did the dirty work of digging him up for Julia.  [spin]

Julia hides her notebook in the clock in the foyer to keep it from Carolyn and Barnabas. When the clock fails to strike the hour (I think it was 9:00) Carolyn gets suspicious and Julia is thrown into a panic.

Lara Parker was born on Oct 27, 1942. . .
source for DOBs: ww.imdb.com

I'm not sure that I believe that year because I seem to recall that both Grayson and Lara had sons the same age and Matt Hall was 9 years old in 1967. Lara would have to have given birth at age 16 to have a 9-year-old then. Certainly not impossible, but not as common back then as it is today. maybe Grayson wasn't the only one who played tricks with her birthdate. Or maybe I'm just an old skeptic. ;)

I pre-ordered #2 from CDUniverse  http://www.cduniverse.com/ with shipping it came to $47 and was delivered on Aug 30, 3 days after release.  I ordered my #1 and #3 from them as well with no problems. I highly recommend thier service

Thanks for the tip. I am one of those who pre-ordered from Amazon and to date I have not heard one word from them and my order has not shipped  [pissd]

So I have just cancelled my Amazon order and placed an order with CDUniverse. The price is cheaper than Amazon, even asking for Priority Mail.

I am so angry at Amazon that they have just lost one very good customer.

I had one of those quilted skirts in the early 70's.
(and lived to tell)

Hate to admit it, but so did I. Didn't wear it very often though. It was impractical. I also had a dress very much like Maggie's blue and orange number. That one, I wore a lot.  [scrm]

It's pouring here on Long Island, as it has the past two days, but I wish everyone on the board a most happy Labor Day, and I hope you can have your BBQ's outside without worrying about the rain!

No outdoor BBQ's for me Robin--it's going to be 104 in Pasadena today. [sun] Sure would love some of that rain!

Happy Labor Day to all.

When I was in college in 1971, English majors had the chance to attend something called "the fourth hour program." These were one hour talks given by the English professors that, if attended, counted for one unit of credit toward the major. One of my favorite profs had just returned from a six-month sabbatical in England, where he was researching that nineteenth Century British newspaper serial vampire called "Varney the Vampire."  The profs talk was wonderful, very funny. Old Varney's trials and tribulations seemed far worse than the problems of Barnabas. These tales have been compiled into book form and I know there are some of you out there who are familier with him.

That sounds like a great class--one I really wish that I could have taken in college.

Congratulations on being included on the class reading list. [hello]

As for Julia, I would love for her to end up living in an elegant mansion, with the (affliction-free) Brothers Jennings on hand to tend to all her needs.

Yes, yes, yes! To heck with who Barnabas should end up with. Let Julia have the Jennings brothers! [wink2]

I thought for certain we saw a room during the series that Julia uses at the OH.  I may be delusional  :-X(quiet J99) but I have a strong visual in my mind.  Bette has every J episode on tape....ask her.

I don't recall ever seeing Julia sack out in any bedroom in the OH except for Josette's room after her liaison with hunky Tom.  Maybe Barn made her sleep on the cot in the cellar.  :o
