Happy Birthday Ben!  I really missed hearing the piano man play at the Fest this year.  Hope you are having a wonderful day.

That's great news Luciaphil!  Congratulations.  Reference work is my favorite part of being a librarian.

Great pics, joeytrom.  We came very close to each other without meeting. Midnite, you are right. That IS the back of me in the off-white pantsuit in the dealers' room. ;D

.The Fri night bar scene was a blast, so was my guided Grayson's NYC Tour 2003

J99 didn't mntion that she actually did her Grayson tour twice, as some of us could not make the original tour. We combined it with a very moving stop at the WTC site. I really felt I needed to see it, as I have such wonderful/painful memories of the 2001 Fest at the WTC Marriott just three weeks before 9/11.  It did bring tears to my eyes to see the site but was very glad to have done so. J99's wonderful tour immediately afterward made for a very memorable Sunday. Too bad, the banquet debacle had to spoil what was otherwise a perfect day.

Thanks again, J99.

It looks like I will be going to the Festival this Saturday and plan on returning on Monday.  Unfortunately, I will not make it to Newport or the Sunday banquet.

I do hope to meet at least some of you there

I remember meeting you, fellow librarian, outside the bar on Saturday night in 2001. I will be at the Fest and hope to get the chance to say hello.  [wavey]

I always felt the warning referred to Julia also...

So have I. I think she is trying to warn Barnabas that Julia is in peril.

I can't begin to tell you how much Stokes' hearing aid bothers me.  They obviously gave no consideration to the fact that the device would only improve after 25 years.

We DO think alike, Midnite.  ;D  That has always bothered me too

Current Talk '03 II / Re:Young Grayson?

As a member in good standing of the JuliaList (actually the Grayson Hall List) for several years, I can tell you that the possibility that it is a picture of Grayson has never come up or even been speculated about. I do not think that it is a picture of her. I have seen pictures of young Grayson, and while the hair looks right, the face does not. In fact, to me, it looks more like a young Joan Bennett.  (See todays montage.)

If this IS a picture of Grayson, maybe Steve has some info.  :)

Love these colors!   :D

The pink writing is very easy on the eyes. Wouldn't mind if we kept it for longer than today.

Happy Birthday, Bob and Terry!  Hope each of you is having a wonderful day, full of friends, drink and cake-- not necessarily in that order.  :D

Okay, Julia and Barn know Claude North's name because he carefully signed his sketch (how convenient!), but how do they know Roxanne's name?

Perhaps they saw her name listed in the credits?   ;D

Calendar Events / Announcements '03 II / OT-Skip Ward has died
« on: August 05, 2003, 05:55:46 PM »
And just who is Skip Ward, anyway? ??? Well, you Grayson fans and movie buffs will recognize Skip Ward as the hunk who played the bus driver in Night of the Iguana (and got a bigger billing than Grayson.)

According to Daily Variety he passed away at the age of 69 on June 27, 2003 after a long illness. It seems he had mostly gotten out of acting and had been an associate producer of TV shows, including "The Dukes of Hazzard."

With his passing I can think of only two NOTI actors who are still with us--Sue Lyon and Deborah Kerr.

On a slightly related topic, on the latest DS DVD Roger Davis mentions being a good friend of Hampton Fancher III. He was Sue Lyons boyfriend and  accompanied  her on the shoot of NOTI. Grayson,  Burton and others supposedly got pissed at these two for constantly making out during filming.
