[It's up to the first poster to come up with a set up, and then each following post will either complete it or fill in the blank(s). And, as always, whoever posts the set up is certainly allowed to post their own completion/fill in as a follow up.]

I'm probably more of a comic book aficionado because that was the first thing that I thought of.

Honestly, the only knowledge of
Swamp Thing
that I have is from the promos for the TV version that used to run on the Sci-Fi Channel during DS.

The Alan Moore run of the Swamp Thing comic book is well worth seeking out. The stories are very adult and contain some genuinely harrowing moments. Quite different in tone than the tv series or the two films.

I've never actually watched or read any type of
Swamp Thing
material, so anything would be new to me.

There are quite a few trade paperbacks available, usually at a fairly good discount. I would stick with the Alan Moore stories. The stuff prior to his run is pretty pedestrian. The stuff after his run is very erratic. A good point to start would be with a story called The Anatomy Lesson.
