May 8, 1991 -- National Dark Shadows Rally Day, when fans of the 1991 series were to gather at NBC affiliates all over the country to show support for the revival series.  While the show could not be saved, it did bring fans together on the two coasts and perhaps more.

(Thanks for noting the date, Kosmo!)

the show could not be saved

The sad fact is that nothing the fans did was going to save the show because its champion, Brandon Tartikoff, had left NBC, and his replacement, Warren Littlefield, was determined to cancel it because he didn't like it. (But then, that same year Mr. Littlefield also canceled one of NBC's sitcoms that consistently placed in the top 10 in the ratings simply because he also didn't like it.) Though what's even sadder is that by the time Littlefield came around, realized the error of his ways because the revival had had the sort of excellent 18-49 demos that other shows would have killed for, and approached DC about reviving the show as a series of made-for-TV movies, he'd already burned any relationship he might have been able to develop with DC, and well, we can imagine the colorful language a man like DC used when he turned him down.  [ghost_wink]

I attended the rally at KRON here in San Francisco. I met a local DS fan named Annie: we are still friends today.
