Annie,  here in central Ma. we are going to be hit by the snow storm also.  Sounds like we could get a foot of snow.  I am hoping my company makes it or we shall be eating left overs through out the weekend.  On the flip side I could have nine people unexpectedly staying over.

Have a very Merry!

I'm not sure, but I think I'd rather be getting the snow forecast for you all in the New England and upstate New York interior, than the wild rain and wind we're supposed to get here on the coastline.

We only have to drive 30 miles to and from relatives both this evening and tomorrow......and a 4-wheel drive is a great tool in the snow but pretty darned useless in a flood! :-[

A Very Safe and Merry Holiday to you all!! ;)

Wow, sounds like the East Coast is gonna get hit hard. El Nino has caused the weather here in the Mid-West to be pretty mild. Temps are expected to even reach the 50's next week. No chance of snow today or tomorrow
:(  I was hoping for a sprinkling for some Christmas effect.

Have a Merry Christmas all.  Bob

Here in Maine, we never get snow.  I am wearing my seasonal sleevless polyester dresses but always keep a fire in my fireplace, just in case.  Of course, I'm just kidding.  We expect a white christmas here, too.  Unfortunately, my 7 year old came down with an intestinal bug and has been very sick since Saturday night.  He just asked me tearfully if Santa won't come to our house because he is sick.  I reassured him Santa will come no matter what.
Everyone stay healthy and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!(felt like shouting).

Weatherman just said that we can expect anywhere from 12-24 inches of snow tomorrow! This is in upstate NY  near Albany.  It's gonna be a nor'easter!

OOPS, guess I spoke to soon. It started coming down here a couple hours ago and we have a good two inches on the ground. It made for an interesting car ride home from my sisters tonight. :) Those darn weathermen. You'd think with all that modern technology they have they could predict a bit better.  ;D I got my scenic snow and then some. I'll be working off Christmas Eve dinner shovelling the driveway in the a.m.!  :D

Well, looks like all you guys up north are sure gonna get it.  We're getting some sort of mix in NJ.  It's around 3 am and there's about an inch on the ground.
I saw a present under the tree that says "To Sweetie Pie, From Santa Baby."  I think it's for me.  (Unless my husband has some broad stashed away around here that I don't know about).  LOL

Merry Christmas!  [wavey]

Well, here in Yonkers,N.Y. we still don't know what the heck we're suppose to get!  Yesterday they predicted a foot of snow for Christmas, then later this evening it changed to "just a dusting" now we're back up to a foot again!  oy vey, I wish they'd get something right for a change.  I swear sometimes it better to be your own weather person!

Here on Long Island, it's snowing at nearly 7 AM, but it isn't sticking to anything but the grass.  We're supposed to get a miscture of snow, sleet, rain and locusts (LOL!), with predictions right now of 2-4 inches of snow.

Driving in snow is NOT one of my favorite chores, and I do have to report to work tomorrow, one of the few who is expected to appear.

My bad back doesn't appreciate snow shoveling, so I'm hoping we get just a little snow and there's no need for it.

Anyway, whether you're expecting no snow at all or a deluge of the stuff, I wish you a Merry Christmas.  If you're driving in bad weather, please be careful--DARK SHADOWS fandom needs every one of us!

Love, Robin

We've got maybe an inch or two on the ground. Roads look slippery. Very light snow right now. As long as the weather system keeps heading east, we'll get maybe 6-12 inches but New England will get hit hard.

El Nino has kept South Dakota dry.  We have enough snow to call it a white Christmas, about an inch or so can see the grass sticking up through it.  Really frosty this morning, beautiful, the sun is shining on it.

Hope every one gets where they want to go safely.

Have a Merry Christmas every one.

We're having a brown Christmas in Kansas City. Just south of us, they have lots of snow. I never think the outoor Christmas decorations look right without snow, but I hate driving in the stuff.

I've been going to parties and celebrating since Sunday and have one more dinner tonight. Whew. Good thing this only happens once a year.

3:43 PM - Still raining here on Long Island, but expected to turn to snow--just when we have to get out on the road, of course, to celebrate Christmas with friends!

We've been fortunate--the temperature has remained high enough to ensure monsoon-like rain instead of the white stuff.  It's very dreary, and windy!

Hope everyone is enjoying Christmas!  Keep warm and safe, my friends!

Well, we didn't get quite the amount they kept threatening all day long but at least I woke up to some white stuff. Last night I was driving home from a party in sleet that turned to ice which wasn't a good experience. I think my house has about 1 inch on the ground right now but it keeps snowing on and off. I know areas within 2 hours of us got up to 10 inches.
Hope everyone is having a great holiday today. Tomorrow I go back to the gym!!

This thread was WONDERFUL!!!  It's after 11pm here on the east end of Long Island, and I feel like I've got my own personal band of meteorologists keeping me informed about conditions all over the country!!

We had to leave dinner at my brother's house early because the roads were icing, and the snow was beginging to stick.  Even with a 4-wheel-drive pick-up it's just not worth the risk of waiting while it gets worse.  So we took dessert (Italian pastries, of course) home with us.

We made it home safely (Obviously!!) but it was a hell of a ride down the Expressway and NOT the way I would have chosen to spend Christmas evening!  The worst of it was the near-zero visibility as the snow came sideways at us.  Combined with the icing on the road surfaces and it was white-knuckle time all the way home. Now, they're calling for about 4 inches by morning out here, tho considerably more back towards the City.

Hope everyone out there had a wonderful Christmas, arrived and returned safely, and is looking forward to a healthy and prosperous New Year.

I'd say the chances of someone who's put on 15 lbs. in the last year getting something from Victoria's Secret are pretty remote -- wouldn't you????

My husband and I went out to dinner last night.  Snow started falling in Nassau County, Long Island, around 6 PM.  Conditions deteriorated rapidly as we drove to a friend's house for dessert.  On the parkway, whiteout conditions made for near-zero visibility--we could barely see the exits.  It was scary and harrowing--getting stuck at any red lights a disaster, because our wheels spun as we attempted to get going again.  My husband had a terrible time getting the car up the driveway and we both had to shovel away soggy, heavy snow so he could make it.

White Christmas?  Bah, humbug--you can keep it!  And now I have to somehow clear off my totally snow-covered car and get to work.  God knows how even the main roads are!

Love, Robin

Just finished digging out of 18" of sn--(can't say it). The plows finally made it to my street. I am very fortunate that I had no power outage---several relatives were without power all day Christmas and all night. I, of course, wasted no time. Watched DS set 3---two disks.

I'd say NO winter is the best winter.  I absolutely hate the cold.  I wanna move to a warmer climate.  What would be a nice place to move to??  The only requirement is that it can't be more than an hour away from the beach.  HAVE to have access to the ocean.
So what's a good place?

Well, it takes all kinds to make up a world. ;)

Me, I wouldn't move to a warmer climate if you held a gun to my head.  I've already informed the husband if he tries to drag me south of here I'll divorce him.  I'd go north, but not south.  I love to play in my garden, but I'd be just as happy in a heated green house!  I prefer being cold.....hot weather actually makes me sick....can't breathe.

Same here Annie!  After hearing the Weathermen going back & forth about the weather here we finally ended up with 12 inches after all!  A big difference from the "dusting" that they originally predicted!

It was nice to finally have a white Christmas though because we hadn't had one here in years, but now Christmas is over and already Im sick of snow!

Im with you on this one. The only difference is that I have to be near a pool.  And it's not only the cold I can't stand it's lugging around all this extra weight of clothing that comes along with Winter.  Between the coat, sweater, boots, scarf & gloves I feel like Im an Eskimo walking around here. Hmm...I think it's too cold down there.  Look at the snow and ice storm they had a week or so ago!
Hurricanes?  Forget it.  Plus, the humidity in the summer is like nothing I've ever experienced.  It's different -- very heavy and oppressive.  I spent a summer in Greensboro one year and it was so hot and muggy that it could make straight hair curl!!  LOL  No lie!

Nope.  Think of somewhere else - someplace that doesn't drop below 50, and doesn't go higher than 85.
Yeah -- that sounds good.

We ended up with slightly more than 12 inches here.  Family came and went very fast Christmas Day.  We were suppose to get together in Newport today but I have one child down with the stomach bug and another just got wisdom teeth out.  Actually, he is doing fine just afraid to eat.  Not only have we been snow bound, but now the stomach bug.  Have any of you ever heard of cabin fever!  My husband keeps talking about moving south one of these years.  Not sure how I feel about it.  I hate humidity.  My hair is cury enough thank you.  Last summer was humid enough.  Anyway we now have a pool sitting out in the back yard waiting for the first warm enough day to use it.  It will be something to look forward to.  Also noticed Dark Shadows is listed at 8 in the morning in next weeks TV guide.

Go right ahead, Birdie. I've already started to take the gifts out of boxes and put them away. I want the house back to normal.
Btw, if anyone wants to see our 2 feet of snow, go to

One of our drive-in hamburger stands has a sign every year that says: "Closed for the season. Reason? Freezin! See ya in the spring."  And that can't come soon enough.

Somewhere in the Caribbean?  The Hawaiian Islands?

A cousin of mine lived in Saudi Arabia for 9 years.  Think you would like temps in the 120 degree range, keeping in mind that you'd have to be covered from head to toe if you left the house?

WAIT!!!  I've got it!!!  Sicily!!!  Of course!!!  The only place it ever snows is on top of Mt. Etna, the weather is warm year round and the FOOD is FABULOUS!!! ;)

San Diego, CA is gorgeous.  My in-laws live there, and while it tends to get cool at night, the days, even in winter, are usually pretty warm.  Of course, summers can be brutal, but those very-hot days are few and far between--and very little humidity.  Of course, there is the occasional earthquake, but no place is perfect!

My brother lives there and he is a doctor.  He is the only one I know who can afford to live there.  I think the average price of a house is 450,000.    If money is no object, it is a perfect place to live.
