Hi ya Sweetie....  (Wave, wave)

What?  You've still got knee problems acting up??
I thought you had surgery to correct this.   ???
Do you ever wonder why bother with doctors in general?  In fact, do you ever wonder why bother waking up in the morning??  I certainly do.
Well anyway, I do hope your MRI gives SOME kind of useful information.  (Ya know, I got very sick a couple of weeks ago and ended up in the hospital.  They did a CT scan of my head  ::)  and it was negative.  I take this to mean that there isn't anything there.)   ;)   (At least anything worth mentioning)  It's obviously better that way.
Take care.

I wonder if they've named the streets appropriately.
They could have......

Angelique Avenue
Trask Terrace
Quentin Court  (I'm moving there)
Roger Road
Collins Corner
Barnabas Blvd. (you take the Julia jug-handle to get there)
Daphne Drive
Loomis Lane
Stokes Street

I'm gonna take a stab at this but I may be totally wrong.
I don't think something you post on a message board would appear anywhere on your hard drive.  I think what "they" are talking about is when you already have some file on your drive and you delete it, it still isn't really deleted.  Some in-the-know computer person can dig it out of the drive somehow because it isn't actually erased -- the space is just allocated as free space or something.

BUT.....here's something I discovered...
Once I was searching for a file and a list of files came up and one of them was in this folder called content.IE5.  When I went to look for the folder which I had never heard of, it wasn't there - or more accurately, it didn't show up.  It's a hidden folder that IE uses.

When I clicked on the file that was within the folder and got access to the folder there were all these internet-type files in different folders and there were quite a few files from DS Forums -- mostly graphics from the board like smileys, people's avatars, etc.  Seems like IE uses these folders to store things from websites and stuff, I assume so that they will load faster or something.  Don't really know.

But anyway, I've seen programs advertised that are supposed to wipe all traces of whatever off your drive so that they can never be recovered by anyone, but never used one and don't know much about them.

connie, how could you forget david's hostile reaction to vicki when she first came to collinwood?as another poster pointed out, [spoiler]david lured vicki to a closed-off section of the house with the full intention of leaving her there until she died![/spoiler] he was really nasty in those days.

Well, I haven't seen those early episodes since they originally aired -- what -- some 38 years ago.  Don't remember storylines or any details - just have a the memory of feelings the show evoked, and pictures in my head, you know?  I was thinking that they must have been using the classic plot of the kid who hates/resents the new governess and whatnot, and had a vague sense of David doing stuff to her, but didn't know or remember anything specifically.  Soooo, I was just curious.
Then again, I can't remember things I watched within the last WEEK on the show.   :-
I think Gerard mentioned the thing about Rachel having taught at Trask's school....I'm like, "Duh......"  I was just watching some of those 1897 episodes about a week ago and I forgot about that already!! (sad, but true)  Didn't make the connection.  Just remember him walking in with her and the whole encounter with brother Quentin.

Really.  I need a brain transplant.  The damned thing just isn't working.

Current Talk '04 I / Governess Wanted - Anyone Need Apply
« on: June 21, 2004, 10:46:49 AM »
I was reading the JF bloopers topic and someone asked what Maggie's qualifications as governess were.  Then I started wondering what any of the governess' qualifications were.  What were Vicki's?  How about Daphne's?  Quentin just dropped by and asked her if she'd be interested in the position (after poor Hortense was killed by the "headless body")  ("in a topless bar").....sorry -- Selby movie.  And where did Edward find Rachel??  A governess employment agency?

Anyway, then I started trying to remember actual schooling-type interaction between David/Jamison/Tad and a governess and I couldn't remember much.  Then I started wondering if David had ever tried to do in Vicki like he did his father with the car brakes.  I can't remember the old black and white stuff from the first couple of years.  Did he ever try to torment her or get rid of her?  THEN I started thinking about this Hayley Mills movie called The Chalk Garden that I always loved.  She's this incorrigible, very sheltered young teenager who lives in a sort of fantasy world and prides herself on horrifying governesses and getting rid of them as soon as possible.  LOL

Did the DS storyline ever have any type of aspect like this during the beginning years with David?

-No memory left   :-

 ;D

Thanks, Connie.  It's an honor just to be nominated.  :P

Well, I can imagine!   ;)

All the missing smileys should be back before too long.  :)

Well, that's good to hear.  I really don't know what to do with myself when I'm not waving like an idiot.   ;D
By the way, things are looking nice on here -- the AVATARS in particular.  They're much clearer and seem better proportioned somehow.

And speaking of Oscar nominations, I'd like to nominate a couple of new avatars on here (at least I've never seen them before) as Avatars of the Week.  They crack me up.

Heather's:  The great picture of Julia and the words: "Barnabas, is that a stake in your pocket or...."
and
Midnite's:  "No One Mourns The Wicked" with the picture of Cassandra with that SMILE!  What a look!

ROTFL   ;D

OH MY CAN I JOIN DAVID SELBY IN THE HAMMOCK???

Don't ask me.....ask him.
(What do you suppose you'd do with him all tied up like that anyway??)  (Just curious)   ;D

PS  Yer incorrigible

 ;)

And it is galling when you go to a movie summary book (Leonard, Roger, any of 'em) that everyone is mentioned in the summary but the actress who initiates the action and was nominated for the Oscar. . .

Yeah!  What the f is that??  Plus, she's the only one worth watching in the film anyway.  Burton?  Eh!

Speaking of David Selby  :-*  lol,  ;D , he played Rev. Shannon in Night of the Iguana at the LA Theatre Center in '91.  There's a photo of him in In and Out of the Shadows from the play.  He's all tied up in a hammock and looking rather annoyed.   ;D  ;)  ;D

Loved that moment. Along with "Don't make me take steps Dr. Shannon."

YES!!  "Don't make me take STEPS, Dr. Shannon."
It's sooooo great.  It's so.....JULIA!

Great Avatar, BTW. Julia and the Q-man, together again.  :D

Well ya know, IMHO Julia and the Q-Man should always be together.  It's all I need anyway.

 ;)  ;)  ;D  ;)  ;)

PS  I miss those wavey smileys   :'(

Damn....wish I'd known this was on.  Been wanting to tape it for awhile.

"SE-DU-CERRRRR!!!!!"

Current Talk '04 I / Re: Hey! was Jonathan Frid sexy?
« on: June 04, 2004, 09:14:39 AM »
I saw Jonathan Frid at a personal appearance at a trade show in Minneapolis, probably during the last year of DS.  I was within four or five feet of him.  I thought he was better looking on television.

I saw him in person three times.  Twice at public appearances, and once at the studio in the summer of '68.  He came walking down the hallway upstairs right after the taping for that day and was still in full costume and makeup, and I must say he looked QUITE stunning!   :-*  He appeared a lot taller in person than on TV and moved very gracefully.  I don't know if it was my exaggerated teenage crush or what, but he had one hell of a presence.  (especially in that brown, double-breasted suit)

 ;D

I can't remember who he's talking to (probably Julia or Willie or both) and I can't remember which storyline or what's going on, BUT there's this scene where Barnabas says something about the tools needed to destroy someone - obviously some vampire.  Instead of saying they need a stake and a mallet, he says, "...a hatchet and a mallet."  ROFL    Huh??

PS  Where's the additional smiley thing?  I wanted to use that one with the one smiley hitting the other one over the head with the mallet.  Are they all gone???   :'(

Jeez....everything looks all different on here.

....Runners up include the lusciously eee-vil Quentofi, amnesiac Quentin chewing out Miss Olivia Priss Corey in 1970, and crazed Quentin of 1995 (just because Selby was so excruciatingly good in the part).

I couldn't agree with you more.

My least favorite Quentin is PT 1970 vintage.  But even when he got on my nerves in that ugly jacket, I still wouldn't have kicked him out of bed for eating crackers.

I wouldn't either.  [grinb]

I think I got this a little mixed up.  [silly]

Not to mention breaking up with Chris Jennings--THE Hunkiest Man at Collinwood!!!  I really wondered where her brains had gone at that point (not to mention other bits...)

Yeah, but HE broke up with her, right?  So that doesn't count insofar as her lack of brains goes.

Anyway, the topic of a favorite Quentin is too complicated to think about in this heat and humidity.  Actually, I could write an entire thesis on the subject but y'all would get bored after the first couple of pages.  [lghy]  I love all the different Quentins for different reasons.  If someone held a gun to my head I quess I'd have to choose 1897.

Hi Dom my favorite scene was when The Q-man
played Grant Douglas when he couldn't remember
his name SURE WISH I WAS HIS NURSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Annie,
You wish you were his nurse 'cause you just want him in bed no matter WHAT the reason.  [gring][gring][gring]  :-*

PS  If you keep moving your messages across the screen I'm gonna get car-sick!!!!!!!!   [lghy]
