Title: OT Scarlett Street

for those in the new york area channel 13 is airing as part of it's "reel 13" classic film series "scarlett street" starring our own joan bennett.

it's on saturday night at 9:00pm. i'll be there.

Definitely not OT since it's a Joan Bennett film--and a GREAT film it is!
Wow, was she terrific in it!
And sexy!

Yes.  When I saw it I'd forgotten she was in it, and then it hit me, but it took a couple of scenes.   She was unrecognizable for awhile because of this completely un-ECS-like personality.   Also, a great film in general, mainly because of the last scene.

A truly wonderful film. So close in resemblance to "Woman in the Window". I guess Fritz Lang knew when he had something good. I love "Scarlett Street" and am very glad it's a public domain film, which means any station and his brother can show it. Over the years, I have seen some terrible copies of it on local TV stations, but it remains a favorite of mine and Joan Bennett shines, as always.

yes i was surprised at how poor the quality of copy was. usually 'reel thirteen' uses good copies.

the film was made in 1946 but visually it was so antiquated it looked like something from the 1920's or 30's. perhaps it's never been digitally restored.

the plot was pretty convoluted but joan was great. i thought maybe she's be too "patrician" to pull off the scarlet woman convincingly but she did. lots of fun.

Kino Video, whose specialty is the restoration of classic films, offers a pristine copy of Scarlet Street that's jaw dropping to look at.

Other Joan Bennet films on DVD in superb quality:
Man Hunt (1941, Fox Video)
Woman in the Window (1944, MGM)
Father of the Bride (1950, MGM)
Suspiria (1977, Anchor Bay Entertainment)

In order to get these films in the high quality we prefer, only get the versions offered from the distributors named next to each title.
