Ayah, Patti. I live in Maine and have never heard any Mainer refer to themselves as Maniacs. However, people not born here are referred to as "from away". The term "from away" is used as a put down or to excuse behavior that doesn't quite conform. I have lived here for about fourteen years and my children were born here. I think my great-grandchildren might qualify as Mainers. As for the rest of us, we will always be "from away".Everybody should have had an accent. The were all Mainahs including Barnabas.
Thank you Onyx....actually, I think they're called 'Mainiac's (my sister lived in Maine/we were going to move to ME).

aye...
Would have been great if the script had been switched to have Gregory refer to her at some point as the "Scarlet Woman of Babylon," but they clearly weren't that quick on the uptake.I love your description, Gothick. It was a very interesting dress. The oriental satin was not sewn onto the dress but swayed seductively as she walked. I had a Chinese friend tell me red is the color of celebration so I think Judith made an excellent choice.
I like to think of it as Judith's "Hong Kong bordello madam" outfit. Some of the fabric looks like Chinese satin to my untutored eye.

Everybody should have had an accent. The were all Mainahs including Barnabas.Okay, let's talk....An Englishman would not have messed up Kitty's title like that: It's Lady Hampshire. Not Lady Kitty.
Sigh . . .
And an Englishman should have an accent.
I don't think Barnabas messed up Kitty's title. I think the writers did. Lady Kitty sounds classy and playful. When I watched this as a kid, I would not have known the difference. Heck, I don't think my mother would have known the difference either and she liked to read gossip about British royalty.
And on another note, count me among the group of viewers who think Barnabas should have come up with a better and different cover story. An Englishman would not have messed up Kitty's title like that: It's Lady Hampshire. Not Lady Kitty.
Sigh . . .
It's not that I think the idea of having Kitty as the reincarnation of Josette was a bad one. I don't. I think they could have done some really cool stuff with it.
What I dislike is that we saw quite a bit of Kitty. She had a strong and interesting personality and she'd obviously lived a lot. Suddenly, she turns into Josette and all of that is totally negated--her experiences, her memories, who Kitty was was all gone. It was like watching Maggie being brainwashed into "Josette" all over again, but worse somehow, because Maggie was being traumatized and there were supernatural powers at work and Kitty is really supposed to be Josette.
I find that very disturbing.
I think too that if they'd kept Kitty's personality intact and had her integrating her memories and feelings of Josette's into that, we could have been treated to some absolutely kickass television. It could have still been haunting and erotic, but it would have had a richness and a depth to it and it would have been remarkable.
I remember seeing that when it first aired. Creepiest Night Gallery ever, and the only thing I can remember seeing on TV that scared me was the ep where the earwhig crawled in the guys ear. I wasn't fond of pinchbugs before that, even less so since. I will never forget that episode.

Well, Bob, you have succeeded in making Count Petofi even more repulsive to me. I feel more sorry for Quentin now than when he was cursed with "wolfism'. He now is cursed with "geezerism". Poor old fart.
-5- Now that you are sporting Count Petofi's long, flowing beard and will, no doubt, have to periodically trim those bushy whiskers, you will now also have to periodically trim all of those copious hairs, sprouting out of your one-hundred-and-fifty year old ears. (You might want to buy one of those Sharper Image Turbo-Groomer Nose and Ear Trimmers. They really work great!)
Very interesting, Cassandra. Maybe Petofi hasn't thought this through(or maybe the writers).
And 2nd - When the real Quentin (in Petofi's body) was in the rectory room with Julia he had heard the same voices from the future as Julia did. This is what made Julia finally believe that he's really Quentin. Now this has got me wondering if perhaps Count Petofi can't really go to the future because his real soul or spirit isn't really there in 1969. After seeing this scene in the rectory I would think that it's really the person's spirit or "essence" that has to be available in the future and not just the body.
