Oh WOW,  can you just imagine poor Mrs. Johnson chasing cobwebs in that great hall?!  Now thats grandeur befitting the Collins family.

Stuart,  "Sapphire and Steel" sounds interesting.  Is it available to rent or buy?  Was it a TV movie or released in theaters?

Current Talk '04 I / Re:But What About The REAL Dark Shadows?
« on: April 04, 2004, 01:36:19 AM »
Well, Connie and Rainey,  I too have not seen any of the new cast in anything with Blair Brown being the exception.  I was grateful that links to pictures were posted so I could at least get a look at the new faces.
I would have loved to follow the series through my new DVDs but it was voted on to have the "Frankenstein" episodes and I can't afford those yet.  I was hoping that the soap channel would pick it up but I guess thats a bust.  I will just have to wait until we discuss the "Intro to Barnabas" episodes.
I am looking forward to the WB Dark Shadows.  I enjoyed the last remake and was disappointed they took it off the air.

Thank you all for the birthday messages.  Unfortunately, my husband and fourteen year old son have a cold with laryngitis so we did not celebrate my birthday.  However, my husband had purchased me DS DVD set 5 so at least I got a present.  Thanks again, the messages brightened my day. ;)

Barnabas was like a rabid dog in HODS and chewed on everybody in his family for no apparent reason.

I thought the Barnabas in HODS was a different character than in DS the series.  When he first attacked Caroline, I was uncomfortable but when he brutally attacked her in Josette's room there was no trace of the tortured vampire.  He was a rabid animal.  I know there were scenes deleted that showed his humanity and maybe that might have made a difference.  However by the end of the movie, everbody but the mailman was a vampire.

Thanks so much for posting the links to pictures of the new cast.  I watch only a little television and none of them seemed familiar.
Vlad, I thought the new Barnabas reminded me of the actor on Forever Night, too.  This young man seems very handsome and I am looking forward to seeing him.  However, the cast seems so young even the ones that are in there forties look young.  I hope they hire a character actor to play Prof. Stokes.  You know, just to add some realism because in real life not everyone is buff and handsome.

Connie,  I forgot about the sunset.  I live on the East Coast now but was born and lived 30 years in California.  My husband's friends from New Jersey had sent some photos from the beach and I asked why everyone was sunbathing facing the parking lot.  I figured people from New Jersey didn't like the view of the ocean. ::)  My husband laughed at me and explained about the sunrise, sunset thing. :-[
I was at a place here in Maine called Sebasco(sp) Resorts.  I am not sure of the exact location but we went through Bath.  The atmosphere was perfect.  Eventhough it was summer, it was cold, damp and misty.  Patchy fog rolled in off the ocean.  Couldn't  they get shots like that in Carmel, California?

Bat tastes just like chicken or rattlesnake or maybe like frogs legs.  I think I'll skip all of the above and have a salad instead.

I love MB's idea of an ancient house being re-built.  The old houses I have seen here in Maine are simple colonials with clapboards and shutters(very no frills in keeping with its puritan roots)  Architecture in Maine didn't get interesting until the Victorian era.  Of course, over the years people have remuddled them with siding and bizarre additions.  My husband is an architect and we were interested in an old house that used to be a tavern.  He said the grand staircase in the entry hall went no where.  It ended abruptly half way up because a closet was built upstairs.  The only way upstairs was in the kitchen.   The windows were all painted shut.  He tried to open one of the windows and cut his hand.  I told him the house was telling him to get out.

Happy Birthday, ClaudeNorth.  I hope you have a delightful day.  Chocolate Cake tastes better than a coconut bagel any day.
