Twin Peaks Revival: Complete Cast List Revealed (and It's Bananas) (http://tvline.com/2016/04/25/twin-peaks-revival-cast-list-showtime/)

Grant Goodeve? I had no idea he was even still acting. But I guess that means that Eight Is Enough didn't kill his career...

The last thing that I remember seeing him in was One Life to Live and that is really going back. He played a guy named Woody who was buddies with Bo Buchanan.

And is definitely an eclectic cast, perfect for a very eclectic series. I'm disappointed that some of the series alumni are not coming back or seem to. I remember them taking Piper Laurie's name out of the credits when her character was supposed to be dead. And all the while Laurie was on screen cross dressed as an Asian businessman.

But no Heather Graham? Or Eric Da Re?

wow...

disappointing Laurie and Chen are not onboard. I guess the drama with the Packard sawmill in not on the slate...

still that is a staggering number of actors. there is no way they can all be fully fleshed out characters. a lot of it has to be cameos and bit parts.

I also don't see Michael Anderson either, so who's running (and dancing in)  the Black Lodge? And will there be any resolution to the Chris Isaak plot from Fire Walk With Me?

Yay, Julee Cruise is listed in the cast!  I hope that means we'll be getting some more Badalamenti tunes with Cruise vocals.  And maybe, maybe another album like "Into the Night"?  That would be heaven...

That TVLine article said that principal photography had completed.  For the whole series!  I didn't realize they'd actually started.  Wow.

Michael Anderson's Facebook page confirms that he will not be appearing. Negotiations fell through. Probably something to do with money.

I know little about TP fandom...

how is FWWM treated??? is it considered "canon" or is it comparable to the way HODS and NODS are treated in the DS universe? an offshoot film "inspired by" the OS but not meant to work into series continuity and able to be viewed as a stand alone film?

Anything David Lynch made would have to be canon, unless he in his infinite whatever decided it wasn't, which for all we know he could.  I haven't seen FWWM though.  One thing DL made that wouldn't be canon: the European film of Twin Peaks where it was all wrapped up during that film, and differently than in the series.

no...

DC produced HODS and NODS and they are not considered series "canon". they cannot be worked into the framework of the series itself. the stories are too different.

I mean is FWWM "canon" in that it works within the series structure and ties up unresolved plots. or is it a stand alone movie?

I'm not as involved in Twin Peaks fandom as I was years ago but the general opinion at the time was that the movie was considered canon. But, while it fleshed out the character of Laura Palmer and chronicled the events leading up to and including her murder, it resolved none of the unresolved storylines. It actually created a few more.

Lee's inclusion in the cast is the biggest question mark for me...

I mean they don't get much deader than Laura Palmer. and even if she appears as a "ghost" in a "dream" or as a "vision" Palmer died a teenage girl and Lee is now a middle aged woman.  [ghost_blink]

True. But she isn't the only one whose character died in the original. Ray Wise is also returning. If ABC had renewed Twin Peaks for a third year, there were tentative plans for Sheryl Lee to return as a third character, this time as a redhead. I have no idea if Lee will be playing Laura, her cousin Maddie, a third character or all three. But I am intrigued.

Maddie's dead too. a third "lookalike" character feels like a stretch.

Apparently I wasn't the only one who was quite surprised by the casting of Grant Goodeve. In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly they have a chart about who's been cast and Goodeve brings up the "HUH?!" section. But of course, we shouldn't judge before we see.  [ghost_nowink]  After all, he could be brilliant in whatever he's given to do.  [ghost_wink]  My surprise really came from not having seen Goodeve in years and years. But a check of IMDb shows that he's been consistently appearing in things - just not things I (and apparently EW) have ever seen...

The last thing that I remember seeing Grant Goodeve in was One Life to Live, where he played a war buddy of Bo Buchanan named Woody and that was decades ago. But Lynch likes to cast people that the rest of us may have forgotten about. The original Twin Peaks gave actors like Richard Beymer, Piper Laurie, Michael Parks and Peggy Lipton (in scenes with her Mod Squad co-star Clarence Williams III, no less) their first mainstream exposure in eons. I wonder if he will have Goodeve sing.....
